Details

Modern and practical, this stylish microwave from Sharp will sit beautifully on your kitchen’s countertop. As well as having a 25 litre capacity, it also features a turntable-free flatbed design, giving you extra space inside to fit large dishes. This model’s 900 Watt output is super-powerful too, so even if you pile your plate high with leftover veggies, it’ll reheat the entire meal in a matter of minutes. Plus, not only do the pre-installed programmes make life a lot easier, so does the timer, as you’ll always know when your creation is ready. And because the convection option cooks food all the way through, it lets you bake and roast like a conventional oven – meaning pizza night is definitely on the cards.

Key Features

  • Has 25L capacity & flatbed design for larger plates
  • 900 Watt power output - cooks food quickly
  • Convection option gives you even cooking results
  • Automatic programmes take the guesswork out of cooking
  • Timer helps you cook food to perfection

Not sure if I'd like a bottom opening door as much as a side one

Your mileage may vary, but I’ve found top-opening doors so much more convenient than the side-opening doors (which for some reason, are only available with hinges on the left-hand side). With a top-opening door, you have unobscured access to the oven cavity, and no door potentially swinging into your way. After use, it’s easy to keep the door slightly ajar to allow steam to escape.

And, as mentioned, if you’re placing the microwave next to a wall or kitchen unit on the right hand side, this is a real pain with most microwaves).

Ridiculous question of the day, but if anyone's able to help that'll be great thanks

Is this tall enough to fit packets of microwavable rice without the packet touching the top of the microwave ?

We've previously purchased a Russell Hobbs microwave that kept knocking the rice packets over due to the height

    Thanks

And nice find OP, thank you. (edited)

It doesn't turn the packets so even if they touch the top it won't be a problem.

The newer Sharp combis aren't very good, so I've heard. It's the Sharp R959 you want - it's a classic of many decades and many purchasers rebuy this model, they like it so much. Huge capacity as well at 40L. Sometimes Amazon have it around £170.

Amazon is OOS at the moment, though amazon.co.uk/Sha…IDO

The grill is used to pre-heat the oven initially, to get it up to temperature before you put your food in - never had any problems with it (some complain about it burning the top but I wonder if they've just not read instructions) and I've used it more than my own Panasonic Premium Combi lately!

The Sharp brand has been owned by Vestel for some years now - some speculate the quality has dipped, so, YMMV. (edited)

By buying that R959 isn't made by Vestel?

looking for a new one to replace mine that the ovens conked out on, 200 degrees is a bit low, thankfully one of the reviews is more helpful than the specifications on the site :/ sounds positive in general though.

Flatbed and 900w looks pretty good, reviews say it does the job. Considering getting this to replace my old Russell hobbs one that is junk. (edited)

I have this and it's great. Only negative is Sharp basically have zero recipes on their sites for their particular mix of wattages so it will take you time to figure out the right settings if you're using grill / convection elements.

Otherwise as a big flatbed 900 it does the job and I do like the bottom open door.

Edit: sorry, mine is the 861 SLM not KM. (edited)

    Hi,
Was looking at buying this earlier today but then found the internal depth (19.7cm) quite small. Please can you confirm if that is correct? In the specs, it says the turntable diameter is 30cm so how does that work?

These are good and can last 4-5 years and I think this is more then enough for this price. Mine sharp microwave after 4-5 years bulb became fused and now it's became automatic so no control with buttons just main switched. Yesterday order panasonic inverter flatbed with discount code 169/- so this time decided try panasonic as last 8-9 years I used two sharp.

Anyone know where to get an internal shelf for this model? as you don't get one in box and there are clearly 2 sets of shelf supports inside for when you use conventional oven or grill.

I can't seem to find any discount codes, has anyone managed to use one?

I had this colour option delivered today from the AO Ebay site, are you positive that there's more than one colour option available ? When I purchased there was no option on colour choice, it may be well worth double checking.

I've received mine today and it appears to be faulty. The grill is working but the microwave only option doesn't heat at all. It's weird because it sounds like it's working. When setting a lower power option it comes on and off as you would expect but nothing heats up even the slightest amount.

Strong start. Hopefully AO via eBay handle it quickly. Not sure if I should try a replacement or not now.

In case anyone wanted to know. Currently I'm not overly impressed with AO. I've asked for a replacement as this was dead on arrival. They have said I have to contact Sharp and go through troubleshooting with them and then they might send out an engineer to repair it or suggest something else. Not sure if it's just me, but I don't expect to be dealing with the manufacturer like it's a warranty claim when it's DOA.
