Please remember House of Fraser is now owned by Sports Direct.
Extremely poor customer service and if you run into any issues they WILL not help. Been there, never again.

Pay by credit card ... Gift vouchers are risky in the current climate

House of Fraser's products quality has gone down since the take over. I feel they sell second grade products e.g discounted lines etc.

If it's not 90% off RRP and £4.99 for delivery, I'm not interested

I'm pretty sure HoF have a return policy where if you pay in cash, you can only get a credit note or exchange (even if you have a receipt)....I purposely wouldnt buy anything due to this crazy policy.

It's protecting the business against losses. Seems crappy but stops people returning things due to buyers remorse or buying multiple items and returning when the intent was to only keep one. Also stops buying an expensive item for a night out and bringing back after sticking tag back on. People take the mick, but still you can return item for a refund under consumer rights eg faulty. Customers get caught buying online, as you need to post back at your cost for a refund, the online store and retail store are different entities so no legal right to return items purchased online to the store, but they can "offer" an exchange or voucher in store to help you out (edited)

Do not buy gift cards from anywhere that’s likely to go into administration at the drop of a hat. Frasers is high on that list.

I would revise your list. Don't like the company, but they know what they are doing and how to run a business with consistent strong results even through dire economic times for the high street. Plenty of profit and cash to go out and purchase others out of administration or in weak positions.

Will they still be in business next year

Yes, SD culled the workforce, didn't take on debts, enforced less favourable contracts, changed customer service policies to legal minimums, brought in zero hours, negotiated hard on rents and increased margins so they should be sound, now staff and retail space owners took a big hit there's not much to go wrong.

My local HoF is like a jumble sale inside with concessions for tat and wide open unfilled spaces. Awful place.

Lost the value of a House of Fraser gift card when Mike Ashley took over and they would not honour the value, would similarly expect these to be worthless if they went bust etc

They did offer an exchange policy where customers could exchange their old dead vouchers for new SD Fraser's gift cards, but this was only for a couple of months, anyone not reading the news or visiting the stores may have missed this occur. But as others mentioned, gift cards are inherently risky so Bank of England voucher are always the best option. (edited)

HoF is full of tat since the Sports Direct takeover. Wouldn’t trust a gift voucher from them. It’s a shame as it used to be a decent shop.
