Dr Martens have been crap for years now since the brand was sold to China.
I wouldn't be surprised if the company that made knock-off DMs made enough money to buy the original brand as they were struggling.
Anyway, the company that made hand-made boots out of Nottinghamshire are now known as Solovair and I'll be putting my money where my mouth is and buying a pair and not wasting any more money on DMs since they're really cheaply made and uncomfortable now for the steel toe 1460s I used to buy.

DMs were made in Northamptonshire by Grigg's. I agree, criminal they relocated most of the production to China. They did do a 'Made in England' range but stuck a hefty premium on the price for the privilege. You really have to shop around and try on DMs now, as quality varies so much. The factory shop near me in Wollaston, Northants, used to be great, but that was about to shut as well, last time I looked 😞 (edited)

I have a pair of these Tarik Docs. They are super comfortable and fit me much better than regular 1460's. No painful break in with them either. The two sets of speed hooks are also a plus to me.
Wouldn't know what this upper material is like, as mine are Crazy Horse Leather uppers.

I watched made in Britain the other day and it showed the factory in the uk where they are made.. Once you buy a pair of these you normally have them for at least 5 years and above.. Cracking price OP buying a pair..

Only 2% of Dr Martens are made in the UK with the other 98% being China.

I didn't know JD sold Doc Martens, I didn't think it was the shops sort of style. Great price

The JD group is massive, so these are probably overstocks from another one of their business and use this platform to sell them

Should I get 1 size down? I'm never sure which Dr Marten's boots you need to change your sizing for, it always stops me buying them! (I'm a size 12)

I am normally a size 10 and ordered a size 10, and they were way too big, so i ordered a size 9 and sent the others back.

Biggest problem I find is getting new proper soles on them Had my ox blood boots in the 70s for year's an old cobbler where I live use to be able to do them easily. I worked at Timsons for a while and they use to stick a rubber sole on them totally ruining them.

I'm seriously thinking of buying a pair, can anyone give me their opinion on how they perform in the rain? Thanks!
