    Don't forget to do the trick with this company;
Just order the basic lenses and they'll email you the same day (usually) to offer you a deal for the gold tier lenses. Around a tenner if I remember correctly.

I've used them a few times always had a great experience and customer service is top notch.

Just got the email, £15.99 for the lense pack after order placed.

If you are after varifocals I find ASDA by far the cheapest place; £80 a pair or £120 for two pairs and that's with any lens you need. They don't have an enormous range of frames but if you find what you want they are so much cheaper than anywhere else I've found.

Agreed, they even thin them down a bit too. Much cheaper than any other retailer that I have found

Anyone seen any offers on prescription sunglasses anywhere please? Thanks.

You can just pay £15 extra to have any of these tinted..

Expect a lengthy delivery time. My last order arrived after 5 weeks

£60 for thin lenses so brings cost to £100 for a £30 pair.

Pretty much same price in Costco.

So I ordered standard lenses and got offered the "Specky 2" package for £15.99 (normally £25.99). I think this is an anti scratch and anti reflection coating. Anyone with experience in these things, is this worthwhile?

It depends on your prescription, if it’s +/-2 or lower, it might not make much difference. Also the smaller the lenses the less difference it will make, larger lenses even at a low prescription, you may be better off with the anti-reflection. Without, you can get that bottle-bottom rings look (edited)

    Hi!

To clear a few things up (based on previous FAQs):

    Processing times

We aim to process promotional orders within 30 working days (please note; Bank Holidays and Weekends are not working days)

    Where we are

We are based in West Yorkshire; right here in the UK. Our labs are also in West Yorkshire (again, in the UK)

Okay, so I’ve seen the processing times and I agreed to them when I placed the order but I still want my glasses quicker

Just call us on 03448 20 20 20 to discuss our Fast Track Service with us.

    We hope this information helps.

    Kind regards,

    Your Specky Team

Cheers OP. Just ordered a pair of Calvin's for £64.98 with lenses delivered. Great timing as mine are scratched and was just about to buy a new pair

Thing is, I wish this site let you filter by size. I pick out 10s of frames, but they are always too long on the arm, too wide on the nose or piddly lense widths.

What’s the difference between these branded glasses compared with a pair from an opticians ? Are you paying extra for the logo?
    Madstick's avatar
I usually find own-brand frames to be less elegant/refined looking when on. Full price designer frames don’t cost much if any more to manufacture though. It’s not like the difference between a designer suit and cheap suit in that respect, you are paying for the logo, but also in my experience, a more put-together look. I do have some fun unbranded colourful frames too. If you have to wear them every day, you might as well have a good selection!

Is it just me or is the filter useless? I need to be able to filter by size but can't!

Is there any other similar retailers with better filters please?

Mid deal. Goggles4u right now has 70% (and that is a common offer, I once grabbed 81%) off. GlassesDirect, IMO even higher quality, have a 40% off on entire order + there's a range which gives you a FREE 2nd frame (starts from 49GBP though, lenses not included). That way you can get 2 pairs for as low as 30GBP; my basic+transition(with top coatings) cost me 88GBP

The trick w/ GlassesDirect I like to do - order 2 same pairs, but for the 2nd pair get the free lens option (lenses are much less likely to break than frames). That way I have a 2nd pair, which I can just replace the lenses with when the 1st frame breaks.

Just ordered on Goggles4u.com (important! .com, not .uk). Did the same trick, got 2 same pairs, one transition and one basic. After applying the code FLAT71, paid a grand total of just 28.88GBP.
