Just ordered this on Amazon. Great price for this 5 port version. Probably not the best spec going, but for the price it's great value for money. Listed as £12.99 but had an option to tick for a 20% off voucher bringing it down to £10.39.
  • USB C Hub with ; 1*4K@30Hz HDMI; 1*USB-C PD 100W; 1*USB-A 3.0; 2*USB-C 2.0.
  • The USB Type-C hub is equipped with a PD charging port that delivers up to 100W of power (87W output) to power high powered devices connected to the usb c hub.
  • 1 x 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and 2 x USB 2.0 ports for extremely fast data transfer and peripheral connectivity.
  • The HDMI Type-C adapter extends your display with a 4K HDMI port, delivering 4K@30Hz images and video directly for an immersive 3D resolution experience. (Note: your device's interface must support video streaming).

Do note 4K@30Hz HDMI rather than 60Hz

Would have been ideal if it had a card reader

100W charging equipment from an unknown brand that charges £1000+ devices... Hmmmm... I wonder what can go wrong...

Price doesn't reflect quality, especially these days. I recommend looking for reviews instead of making silly comments.

I have a Lenovo Legion and the single USB C port connects to the display port on my monitor, only this port allows me to have 144hz 1440p freesync, the HDMI port does not support this.

Would I be able to use this hub in the USB C port and still maintain the video output above?

The one thing I have found with these cheaper hubs is their lack of support for the more exotic video modes. I have an ultrawide LG screen which is nothing fancy other than the ratio (i.e. Not 4k or anything like that), and a cheap hub would only show the normal 16:9 picture and not the 21:9 ultrawide.
Have ordered this to give it a go...

    Good product, but:
    1 X USB 3.0 port (5gbps)
    2 X USB 2.0 port (480mbps)

Quite surprising to see usb 2.0 ports still being used in this day and age.

    Need one with Ethernet

Oddly enough it was one of my biggest challenges when I was shopping for one, there were a lot more devices that were focused on PD and HDMI, and not very many with an 'old fashioned' ethernet port.

Might be useful for basic use but I would not trust unknown brands with a fast charger, no way.

    Why?

These are really dropping in price now, you used to have to pay >£50 for a PD compatible one. I wonder how much of this was driven by the arrival of the Steam Deck?

As you say it isn't the fastest (and not having any more USB C ports is a bit of a pain) but for the price it's great. As Linus says, there's no such thing as a bad product, only a bad price.

A useful tool to have nowadays with tablets/laptops/phones all becoming unified with USB C

But you can get a hefty £313 off by buying from Amazon Warehouse.

Would this work for steam deck to connect to 1440p monitor for desktop mode? Cheers

    Yes

Very cheap for a device that's handling 100w input.
    markyo007's avatar
It doesn’t need to be expensive.

Does anyone know if this will allow me to transfer files from an iPad pro onto a usb stick?
    zzakzz's avatar
I've used a USB c sd card reader and the "documents" app from app store in the past to move files. This should work too
  18. supergran's avatar
What does the 100w mean? Is that the pass through current it can handle? As in, the power comes from the laptop? (edited)
    Ega_Hacass's avatar
You can charge laptop if you will connect power supply to this dock.

These always seem great to begin with, but give it 6 months I start running into problems with some of the ports. Always seem to be the display outputs that have problems I find (HDMI, DP)
  20. kingLAWZA's avatar
So this 100W can charge a phone?

Don't care about speed of charging, as long as it does over a day.
    Robdataff's avatar
Errr.... You plug a charger into this, it will then charge your device.. If your phone supports pd charging then you're golden. If it doesn't, then it should still charge, albeit probably at 18w max, even if the charger is a beasty one.

Im just guessing here, but modern Samsung relies on PPS charging, which this doesn't mention. So everything Samsung will default to 18w max.

It'll still charge your device though.

Does this work with a chromebook, especially the hdmi out?
  22. Rob2404's avatar
Want this but not sure why... What's the point of it, especially the hdmi bit? :/ Thanks.
    adyjoy's avatar
If you have a laptop with a thunderbolt/USB type C port that supports video, you can plug a monitor, your psu and a couple of USB devices to this hub and when plugging this at your desk you'll have power / dual screen (with the laptop screen) / USB devices all connected to your laptop with just one wire. In other words, a docking station.
Just note to check what type C port you have, and whether it supports video. (edited)

Anybody have a Xiaomi phone? I've heard they don't work with these things as wanted to use the hdmi feature. Anybody tried it?

I’m a bit confused about the 100W USB connector (which spec says is power only, by the way). Spec implies this is for charging external devices, however, can it be used the other way round i.e. can the laptop power supply be connected to this to charge the laptop? Thanks.
    rev6's avatar
You charge the device you connect via the USB-C. Etc Laptop
