Seiko Watch Prospex Black Series Night Vision Tortoise Limited Edition SRPH99K1. Prospex "Black Series" Tortoise

Very popular since its inception and now in its third year of limited edition release, the Seiko Prospex Black Series was originally inspired by the mysterious world of night diving.
The green lumibrite colouring on the markers and hands is designed for increased visibility in the dark world of the night seas, allowing time to be read clearly in dark conditions.

The name ‘Tortoise’ is inspired by the popular diving watch shape nicknamed by Seiko fans as the ‘Turtle’ because of its shell-like profile.

Prospex is a combination of the words ‘Professional’ and ‘Specifications’. These timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable and durable within extreme or everyday environments, for experts, sports lovers and adventure seekers alike.

I had one of these. It's a nice looking watch in my opinion, but that stock strap is very stiff. It'll take many wears to mould to your wrist.

A good technique in these cases is taking off the strap and putting it around the bottom of an inside of a cup so it's held in a round shape and pouring boiling water over it and letting it cool down. It will remain rounded and be more comfortable.

Why so many plugs for a chinese knock off brand in this thread? Am I missing a joke?
Good seiko, nice price, streets ahead of any PoS chinese knock off. Anyone legitimately swapping a Seiko for said chinese PoS is probably too dumb to tell the time anyway. (edited)

I would have generally agreed with you about 5 years ago, not any more!

7000 pieces is not limited edition but it's a lovely watch regardless

think they put limited far too much now, but in a world of 5 billion people 7000 does seem limited.. lol

wish they would only use limited to say a quantity of 500 or less then if they want to do more do a newer version with some improved variation, like a different back or improved lume, or variation in bezel colour etc.

Great watch, paid 382 in July and don't regret it. Wouldn't mind getting the rest in this series if the price comes down

I heard that Seiko QC has been slipping as of late. The bezel on this model doesn't always line up at the 12 O clock.

Unfortunately, this happens a lot not just with Seiko, I know someone who buys 3 and will return 2 for that very reason. If quality control was more stringent then he wouldn't do that.

Personally, if I received a watch from a company and that happened I would return it and not go back to that watch, I would probably try another watch from the company. I do have Seiko in my collection, but over the last few years I have educated myself in certification and I am now more open to trying other brands.

I quite like this watch, I would prefer it in red or blue indices.  If I see it on sale later in the year at a lower price, with the black stainless steel strap I may go for it!  However, I would have to look into it in more detail though, as with my most recent watches bought I tend to go for better lume on the bezel and fish eye lens over the date.

A good saving on RRP but I find the tortoise "land" models somewhat a case of neither one thing or the other, stuck between the Seiko Diver's offerings and the Sports offerings. Then there's my distrust of PVD/ION coatings, which may be irrational given that my one ION Seiko has held up well. (edited)

Weird how they released this 6 months after STEELDIVE released their night vision red watch. I still think Seiko and Steeldive are made in the same manufacturing companies, just look too much alike. I think their designers follow each other..lol

I don’t really like pvd watches, but this has a certain charm to it.
£250 and I would have gone for it.
    Good find!

Steeldive do one in red and pvd black for around £110 I think, though it hovers between £110-£132...

    That’s really smart.
Tried one of the other versions on and really liked it: the aesthetic of the Turtle I reckon but a bit smaller (and has Sapphire like the Grand Turtle.)
Yeah, I’ve heard the strap is pretty stiff but….20mm lugs, nice (edited)

my son and husband recently replaced their Seiko watches for STEELDIVE after one of their diver buddies recommended those, sure they were looking at something similar to this but in red n pvd black.

Lovely looking watch and a cracking deal

I have a Steel dive willard and it's great but I don't think I would recommend it over this ha

I like my high end watches personally but if I couldn’t afford those, I would definitely buy this.

I would really love the design a lot more if it didn’t have the oval case design. If it had a more regular circular case and lugs, or even lugless design I would definitely be wearing one of these.

    Heat anyway.

Just been on the website, had a look at payment options and the order was placed without adding any payment details…..really odd!

Put in a cancellation request in immediately!
