I dont know about nvidia but after the last patch of the game and the lastest amd adrenaline driver 23.4.1 i haven't experienced any bug so far after 5 hour of game play. I also mention that before that I couldn't even open the game without crashing

Meant to be a big game update later today according to naughty dogs twitter, see what it fixes first then you can consider the price being good or not.

It's fine since the hotfix from nvidia, just stay away unless you have 10GB of vram, or don't mind medium textures which look like arse with 8GB. lol

Like everybody else already said, don't buy this yet. Given the track record of the studio who ported this mess, by the time it's running acceptable it should be at least another 5 or 10 pounds cheaper.

The 3600X is a recommended CPU yet it pretty much maxes it at 90-100%. Very strange indeed.

According to Digital Foundry, it is because the hardware decompression on PS5 has been assigned to the CPU in this port.

£2 off their previous price I suppose but still holding till it reaches £25 personally. Might have a decent update by then too. (edited)

wait. It will get down to 15 soon enough the way this launch has gone

you need to have a 16GB VRAM GPU to run this game stable at 1440p or above with textures that load every time. So you need:

    a 3090 or better (3090 TI, 4080, 4090) - 4070 TI only has 12GB won't run well

or 6800 XT or better (7800 XTX) - 7800 XT only has 12GB and won't run well

that leaves out about 85-90% of the PC gaming community, and with steam offering refunds to anyone who wants one I think it's safe to assume that sony/naughty dog are going to be hurting and dropping the price of this even more in the very short run.

What are you on about? pc gamers have compromised their settings since forever. Just because you cannot "max out" the settings doesn't mean you can't play the game with considerable enjoyment. Using 5600X with a 3070 at 2560x1600 res. I just reduced some settings to medium and its completely stable ( several hours in)

Ignore some of these comments, the games is playable on a gtx 1060 3gb at 1440x900, but, in all honesty it's pretty boring, overly simplistic and not as enjoyable as the TV show. Had 3 crashes over the entire gameplay.

haha of course it's playable at potatovision resolution - just barely above 720p from the PS3 10 years ago

1440x900 = 1.3million pixels, probably below 60FPS, but let's pretend it's 60 for the sake of argument. That's 77.76 million pixels per second load on your 1060 3GB GPU (3.9TFLOPs)

4K 3840x2160 = 8.3million pixels, high UHD textures, at 120FPS or more. That's nearly 1 billion pixels per second - 12.8x the pixels per second that your GPU is doing. That takes a 3090 (35.6TFLOPs) or 4090 82.5TFLOPs)

If you think potatovision is playable that's your choice. Many have bought the steam deck comfortable with potatovision at 7" (210PPI at 12 inches)... I'm just assuming your 1440x900 screen is a bit larger, probably 21" minimum, so about 80PPI at 30 inches viewing distance

just saying maybe it's time for an upgrade (edited)

    Why buy at this price?

Surely you would want to wait for a few months, wait for the fixes and then pick it up much cheaper.

Anyone with a GTX 970 know what the best settings for it to run smooth and also make it look nice at the same time, or is the card too old for that now? (edited)
    xybp9's avatar
    xybp9
    sorry, too old

but partly because the game is so poorly optimised. Other modern titles you might be able to play at low to medium 1080P

I have it on Steamdeck with the latest update from yesterday. It's certainly playable, with most of the first chapter at around 30fps (explosion and crowds in the Prologue saw it drop to 20ish). Cutscenes 45ish. Characters' hair looks odd too but no crashes so far.
If you are REALLY hanging out to play it, go for it - otherwise wait until it's properly fixed and probably discounted further. (edited)

I'm about 8hrs in and honesty don't really know what the hype was/is all about. It's VERY linear with LOTS of cutscenes to forward the (admittedly) semi-interesting story. If you prefer this kind of game then you'll be like a pig in muck, so horses for courses etc etc

Personally, I prefer much less linearity so in that regard, a story-driven game like 'Days Gone' was much more enjoyable....for me, at least.

Yeah, it isn't great as a game but it is pretty good at what it does, especially for its time.

If you have PC that can handle it now, then this makes no sense.

I'm about 4 hours into the game and really enjoying replaying the game, 3440x1440 HDR, looks gorgeous, and runs around 80-120fps

    5800X3D, Asus Strix 570-F, 32GB3600C16, 3080FE.. (edited)
