This is interesting. I used to work for Lego and the policy was very much to not make any set that was even vaguely religious... Easter, Christmas and Chinese New Year were acceptable as long as they were in their commercialised, secular forms. Is this the case with Ramadan now? Or maybe Lego is changing its tune!

Enjoy the free Lego! (Kids, not adults)

That's interesting I didn't know that was an intentional policy from Lego. Maybe that why there's a Lego model of the Taj Mahal but not one of the Kaaba

They did the same build last year, also for Ramadan. It's a nice gesture but I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't try to design a different Ramadan themed build, especially as lanterns are more Diwali than Ramadan.

Ramadan is the month of the Qur'an where Muslims make an extra effort to read more Qur'an. This Lego book would have been more appropriate than the lantern which just gives the impression that the marketing team in Lego HQ can't tell the difference between Muslims and Hindus

Good point, think they were reusing the left overs either from last year or when Diwali happened in Oct 2022, it would be best to contact them and pitch your idea.

Another idea would be to create the moon, as the islamic calendar uses the moon, unlike the Gregorian calendar that uses the sun, or even the Kaaba, the list is endless.

Think they forgot to use Google (edited)
