I have been looking to take my family to London for the day and have discovered LNER have a £105 return option for a family of four 2x adults and 2x children up to age 15, which is incredible value, so thought I would share it here for those, like me, who didn't know this existed.

Just back from London, to Scotland, on LNER with my kids. Train was delayed and staff advised to claim through the LNER delay repay scheme. Was only delayed by an hour but it was easy to claim so gave it a shot. Was surprised to get an email back the same day refunding the entire fare. Was impressed with that so make sure you put a claim in if you have a delay more than 30 minutes.

We went to London last Saturday and it was 36 minutes late. 5 minutes to put a claim in and confirmed refund of £52.50 next day.

Family and friends railcard, use £10 worth of Tesco vouchers to get one, save you 1/3 off the fare

Turns out you can't use railcard discount on these. But you can pay with Amex and some cards have a 12% Cashback offer on LNER at the moment. Thanks heat added

This is HUKD. Everyone is a student or has 4 kids, depending on the deal. Or both.

Trains are okay (assuming you can all get seats), but if you're going from a major city to London then National Express, Megabus or Flixbus would likely be considerably cheaper booked in advance - I've taken my two kids from Nottingham for something like £15 return for all three of us a few years back. Agreed. Also find national express etc to be far more comfortable

If you have Airtime Rewards, LNER is one of their retailers e.g. I have 5% cashback on LNER purchases over £70.

Does anybody know if you can purchase a family ticket and just travel with two adults?

T&C's seem to suggest that not travelling as a group invalidates your ticket and will result in the passengers having to purchase the correct tickets on the day, but I just wanted to check.

Often they wing check, and if you say that your little one had chicken pox so had to stay behind....

Isn’t it about time airlines adopted this delay repay scheme as well. Had TUI wriggle out of a 4 hour 40 minute delay last year claiming it was outside of their control.
