The story of Cal Kestis continues in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a third person galaxy- spanning action-adventure game from Respawn Entertainment, developed in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. This narratively-driven, single player title picks up five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order™ and follows Cal’s increasingly desperate fight as the galaxy descends further into darkness. Pushed to the edges of the galaxy by the Empire, Cal will find himself
surrounded by threats new and familiar. As one of the last surviving Jedi Knights, Cal is driven to make a stand during the galaxy’s darkest times – but how far is he willing to go to protect himself, his crew, and the legacy of the Jedi Order?

To survive, players will build upon Cal’s training with an expanded list of iconic Force abilities, combat stances, and lightsaber customizations that can be combined in new and different ways to fight as a Jedi. While the Force is a powerful ally, it may not be enough. Cal will have to get creative and master new abilities, tactics and even leverage the environment around him to overcome the obstacles ahead.

Fans of Star Wars will travel to new planets and familiar frontiers as Cal seeks to reunite the crew of the Stinger Mantis. New Force abilities, equipment and upgrades will enable players to search, explore, and re-traverse in new ways across multiple planets, each with their own unique challenges to face. The Galaxy is full of stories, secrets, and treasures to uncover for those willing to face the dangers that lay off the beaten path.

I've got one of these that I use with an older TV that can't support 120hz at 4K and all of that jazz. Gamepass (which you can subscribe to for roughly a tenner a month, or there are deals for it on here all the time) represents great gaming value and I have not had to buy a game for my Xbox other than Call of Duty. This is a subscription service that has plenty of great games they can play on demand (your broadband permitting). Plenty to keep the little ones occupied I reckon! Just to flag, Fortnite is free to play - that seems to be what my cousins around that age are most interested in.

Edit - also worth flagging that this is a digital only console, so you won't be able to buy used games and will be tethered to the Microsoft store pricing for most games. If you are just going to use gamepass, not an issue really but worth considering the trade off of lower price vs being able to save on used games. Savings on used games can be substantial when buying discs. (edited)

At the moment, Jedi Survivor runs badly on everything. Ridiculous PC graphics cards can't hit 60fps average and the console versions aren't much better. Heard "it shouldn't have been released like this" a few times.

I'm @ 10 hours into the game on an Xbox Series X and it's perfectly fine. No issues, bugs, hitches or framerate drops so far.

    Okay.
Crazy to pay these prices for a series s, they are flooded on the 2nd hand market for £100.

Erm, not they're not? They drop to around £150 on occasion but they're never that cheap unless someone is trying to pull a scam.

I had one of these consoles and wasn't impressed with it so sold it.

Even the games on PS4 are better. For example The Last Of Us, Ratchet and Clank, Sackboy, God Of War, Final Fantasy 7 etc.

Save up for a PS5 is my recommendation. That's what I'm doing. Both my friends who own Xbox/PS5 also agree PS5 much better as well. (edited)

it’s great if you just want a system for new games and don’t care about having the best performance; definitely the cheapest way of getting “next gen” games and they run fine as long as you’re not expecting the highest resolutions or frame rates (plus if you’re upgrading from xbox one you can sell the controller for a decent amount and get the console even cheaper).

i wonder how long it’ll last as a decent platform as the generation goes on and games get more advanced though, it probably is worth spending the extra money on a ps5/series x and avoiding any issues later on (edited)

    Been waiting for this.

Any reviews out yet on how it runs on Series S?

one mode, 30fps at 1080p (apparently), with some drops from what i’ve seen. shame since fallen order was 60fps on series s and this doesn’t look that much more impressive than that but it looks good enough to me. hoping they’ve got it running on steam deck by the time i get around to it since it looks abysmal there atm but if not i’ll get it on xbox 🤞 (edited)
