Been after one of these for a couple of weeks but prices had gone up to around £550. Just checked and this is £280.46 using the code FORYOURHOME15.

Not sure how good it is but seems to have good reviews and I like that it has a standard easily attainable battery in case it needs to be replaced.

EDIT seems to have increased to £305.96 now

Looks good. Not sure what the point of the exchangeable battery is, I guess it would make replacing it every 5 years or so a simple enough task. Otherwise looks like a standard basic robot mower which at this price I'd highly recommend.

Looks like the batteries can be used in some of their other products, so it's a cross compatibility thing. Also having easy access to remove/replace/share a battery is only a positive in a device for most.

bear in mind that laying the boundary wire especially for larger gardens is quite a lot of work - if your back or knees are dodgy then it can be quite challenging

as it happens I laid some boundary wire today for our (large) garden & it took the most part of a day just to lay it on the surface rather than buried which would have taken even longer

admittedly I did take my time doing it as I wanted to make sure the wire was lying really flat on the ground so the mower wouldn't cut it - I used pegs every 50cm or so rather than the recomended 75cm which is one reason it took a longish time to install

also if you have an odd shaped garden with "thin channels" less than a metre wide then the mower
can have problems traversing those channels

next time i will probably employ a trademan to do it properly (buried) - you can use something like an angle grinder to create the ditch channel for the wire (edited)

Thanks didn't know you can bury it. Do all of them (not just this one) still work if buried?

What would actually happen if you didn't put the wire out surely patio etc would be too low for it to cut anyway?

All these robot lawnmowers just mulch. So basically they go out daily and just take a tiny bit off the top of the grass, which is just left on top of the lawn and ultimately acts as a fertiliser, breaking down and feeding the lawn.

I can’t say I’ve had much cause to pick mine up . Maybe if you have two gardens which are substantially separated ?

this also appears to be half the price of that model from a quick Google . Often the trade off with technology , and a good value one in this case as I don’t plan on bringing it on the train with me

How do these work in a garden with a few trees?
    davew2011's avatar
    davew2011
You run the perimeter wire to the tree, round it, and back to the perimeter and continue .
if you have an orchard probably won’t work well but ok for a few

Anyone know if it auto charges? Ie. Goes back to the base station when it needs to?

I assume you have to find some way of getting power to the base station outside as well?

I've got about 5 different sections of lawn to deal with and the whole perimiter wire thing puts me off one of these. The ones without perimeter wire are mad expensive...
    Good deal though
