avoid! they retain the logbook for first 12 months.

It says 6 months in their t&cs ...

    b. To achieve our discounted vehicle prices we are in most cases required to register the vehicles in our fleet name and address and our customer’s name simultaneously. The V5 (or logbook) has to then remain in this format under our terms of supply until the vehicle is at least 6 months old. After this period of time has elapsed, the V5 (or logbook) is only then changed over into your name and your address making you not only the first but also the second registered keeper.

I've bought from them twice now and been the first owner and registered keeper both times. They are up front and tell you in the advert if you are not the first registered keeper. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

It's kinda mad how rubbish the economy is on these cars. My 2011 Passat gets better economy routinely. Just driving country roads to my mum's about 12 miles and I got 70mpg.

Normal commute 40 miles total combined is about 57mpg at 70 (it's more or less a hill the whole way) At about 65 it's more like what this car claims.

On longer motorway journeys it's closer to 70. (edited)

Your Passat is a diesel though. This is a petrol.

A 1.0L engine is really not up to the job of pulling a car this size. Yes you can bolt a massive turbo to it to produce the power figures but there will never be longevity in an engine under that much strain! The way the car industry have tried to brainwash us into thinking this is the way forward is a joke.

If it was up to the car industry, we'd all be driving V8s, have no air bags, or safety systems, makes a car quicker and cheaper to build. Thank UK, EU and US laws instead.

These engine sizes are ridiculous. Give it a couple more years, they'll take the engine out and provide us with a hole in the footwell so we can run the car like Fred Flintstone.

Good deal, but how the heck is a 998cc engine supposed to drag that thing around? 0-60 in a week?

A turbo and direct injection means this has similar power to a traditional 1.6-1.8 litre engine.

Hyundai corporate customer service has really gone down hill. I'm still waiting for them to get back to me about a paint issue I have repeatedly contacted them about over the last few months.

I'm sure its fine for its target market - a family runabout. Its not going to set the world on fire but is designed to be cheap (for a new car this size), reliable family transport.

    You're not far wrong.

    Absolute Zero UK Fires Report

Page 7 says it all really, fossil fuels phased out, airports to close, traffic cut by 40%, energy for heating cut by 40% and new cars to be no more than 1000kg. We're going to be seeing smaller lighter cars and smaller colder homes, no more New Zealand lamb or beef and no more flights. So a nice trip to Blackpool for your hols unless you want to drive to Spain in your city car......if they allow it.

The future's bright, the future's greener.

I realise it's cheap in today's market, but no one can deny it looks hideous. Surely one of the crossovers for very slightly more money would be better option taking into account resale value (the recent Toyota which can be had for £22k and with I think a 10 year 100k warranty).
    Dacra's avatar

But the tiny crossovers are still tiny, just raised up! This is a proper estate with a proper boot, not a small SUV being called an estate for no reason.

I hired this car for a week driving in Italy (2 kids plus bags in the back). At first I though something was wrong with it as it it seemed to have so little power. Overtaking was more trouble than it was worth.
After a week driving I figured you can get it to move a bit, but you do really have to floor it to make it go some.
Even for a family runaround you'd want a little more grunt to feel safe overtaking.

Are the engines similar? Or just the fact they're both 1 litre and the Ford shows that's good enough?

I went to see this at the Hyundai dealership in Swindon about a month ago. They told me that it had been discontinued and that they couldn't get one.
I left, hacked off that they didn't even try.

Seams a okay price, as a wildcard idea if anyone can make a EV work for them ( be able to charge at home ) then a lightly used MG MG5 gets my vote.

just as “good” looking as this, similar warranty and will be a way nicer to drive / more powerful.

I had a Range Rover and a BMW a few years ago. Both were never out the garage and the price of parts was a disgrace. I bought a Kia Ceed SW then a Hyundai Santa Fe. I had the Ceed for 4yrs and currently have the Santa Fe for 3yrs. I've never had a minute's bother with them.

I'm not in the market for a car just now but I'd buy this in a heartbeat. I'm not bothered about speed now I'm in my 50's.
