SUVs are aerodynamically a brick with higher emissions with reduced range on electric models.

My 2012 Citroen C5 ii 2.0L HDi 163 bHp is £135 road tax per year as it has lower emissions.

Without looking at it, can almost guarantee it will be. 1l engine should be avoided. 0-60 by next week

Surely if this is the 3 cylinder engine you will have to rag the a*** off of it to get anywhere

I have a Seat Arona which is a similar size and the engine BHP / torque figures look almost identical. I have been very happy with performance and can hardly believe how well it pulls at low RPM. Much better than the 1.6 in my old Clio

It’s only when you get the small engines with no turbochargers and 0-60 times of 14+ seconds that I feel there is a problem (edited)

Can’t get my mind around 1l engine… yes turbos are good and engine mapping is too etc etc but will be a hard engine to get the cloaked mpg out of in my experience of driving low powered petrols

forget the the willy waving engine capacity and look at the output and acceleration figs. 114hp and 0-60 in less than 10.7. Sounds perfect for a mainstream small SUV wannabee with no sporting pretensions

For those of you probably haven't driven a 1 litre 3 cylinder turbo, they're a great balance of performance and economy, engines don't need to be big to be nippy these days, get your head out of the brochure and drive one, you'll be pleasantly surprised. (edited)

The only 3 cylinder I ever drove was a Corsa non turbo and that was

Average car for people who don't like cars, don't care about cars. Cars are just a tool for them to get them from A to B. Can't blame them most people's cars sit outside their house/work for 22-23 hours of the day and they realistically use them 1-2 hours a day and many less. So as an A to B tool this is average, I guess it's middling cheap in this current market. A truly bland innocuous vehicle for the average person who doesn't give a damn about cars.

I drive one of these and I have to say the comments about it being "average" and "just a car" etc are pretty fair.

I got it because it was cheap on lease. My other car is a 13yo Honda Jazz. The juke is much thirstier than the Jazz, it's less practical, worse to drive and feels worse put together.

We use it as a second car....and it's cheap and fine. But nothing more than that.

This is another car we had a test drive in. We went along to test drive a Juke and Qashqai. We liked the car, the engine was nippy, but as with nearly all the 3 cylinder engines we drove it still lacked something and was noisy on acceleration. We then drove the Qashqai and the difference was amazing, the engine and ride was smoother. I know it is a bigger car, but it was the 4 cylinder that made the difference. Had it been the same we might well have bought the Juke. It was probably the first time we realised three cylinder engines was not for us. Yet we still test drove several more cars with three cylinder engines, just in case. As I've said before, of all the many cars we test drove and hired over the last few years, the Qashqai and Vitara were the two best drives and both were four cylinder. But, at around £17,000 for the Juke, in spite of it's three cylinder engine, you get a lot of car for your money. (edited)

How much was the price difference between this and the qashqai though? We're hardly comparing like for like are we?

Well reading all of the above posts I must be one of those " willy wavers " as I drive a 3 liter v 6 petrol motor so I don't reckon a 3 cylinder motor is for me, I might notice the difference

Why do car manufacturers insist on putting engines the size of hair dryers in bigger cars? You could probably moonwalk to your destination in a shorter time. About as much fun as chewing glass.

115 bhp engines you mean? More than the previous typical 1.6? Ok...

Decent deal. Fugly but I like it personally. Each to own I suppose. Plenty jukes on the road still so must be reasonable to run and reliable. Etc I assume.

They look a lot more like the 2015 qashqai which is a big improvement on the Duke of that time

I suppose this accounts for the Vauxhall Grandland having a 1.2 engine, and that is a biggish motor to lug around, new tech at its best

50127274-i2mfv.jpgFunnily enough we've just been given a crossland x with that same engine in still a 3 cylinder, 130 bhp I think? Pretty nippy thing, very little in it between this and our 1.5 turbo vw troc

I have 2011 model I wanted new version but no diesel model. I don't how these fair on long distance . I'm going to travel in the future from Sheffield to Leeds 3 days a week....opinions
    Early1800's avatar
    Early1800
Sheffield to Leeds is I'm guessing M1 motorway most of the way. At rush hr its usually smart motorwayed down to 40 or 50 mph or even slower becasue its gridlocked and/or someone can't drive in a straight line at a constant speed without having an accident.

Cruising at those speeds should give an easy 50-60+mpg. Everyones different but Sheff to Leeds is an average commute, long distance is 200+miles and 3 or 4+hr journeys....

Last time I drove a Juke it had this same engine.
I had it as a hire car for a few days, An almost new Juke with a few thousand miles done.
Driving along the motorway doing 50 through roadworks I noticed smoke from the exhaust.
The juke lost power and I managed to just get off the motorway at a nearby junction.
While sitting with the breakdown man on the ride home with Juke getting towed on the back, he explained the turbo had blown.
He had been called out to other Juke's with similar faults.

Would I buy one for myself....No.

Turbo is worked hard, causing issues. Always been the case, I remember car manufacturers putting in a 1.6 diesel into a 1.8 tonne vehicle... also had turbo as a common failure point. Always buy an appropriate sized engine for the vehicle. In the Juke, it would be a 1.2 turbo or 1.6 non turbo. Anything higher will give you better reliability if you regularly load it up with passengers / cargo.

These are really a 2 seater car, the back seats can’t fit a small child in them. More room in a yoghurt pot! Seriously (edited)

Not my experience, TBH. I have my 2yo in big isofix car seat and my 7yo in giant booster seat thing in the back and they're quite happy. I'm 6'2" and have the driver's seat right back, too.

I've taken the odd ride in the back and it's not fun for adults, but it's not awful.

I used to have an old shape juke and that was much worse, both for rear cabin space and especially boot space.

£17k for a Juke wow just wow . Cold from me . Lacks any character and so overpriced . 5 years ago could pick up a new one for £10.5k . Accept prices have gone up but can’t believe people are paying it .
