Alternative to github/pastebin RAW using own website

I am learning LUA and need to grab RAW text from sites like pastebin/github-gist but I want to host it myself. I have a wordpress website, very basic in terms of customisation; can I do it there? I have access to cpanel but not used it at all to create pages.

no, they were just examples of websites that can host RAW text, nothing else (no banners/ads,buttons) just text.

OK then, within cPanel you will see a feature called File Manager under the Files category.

You will have a folder that's most likely called public_html, but maybe 'home' or 'www'.

Any file you upload into that folder will be accessible from your website. So you can put your text files there.

Sorry, never used wordpress, but is it possible to use your own machine (localhost) or a separate server?

Also, is there any specific reason as to why you would like to host the content yourself?

It's large amounts of data (artistic nature but nothing nefarious) that could be valuable to certain individuals that are mostly quite toxic - everyone wants something for nothing! also I don't really want to obfuscate/encrypt it. I can't make it private on pastebin as then I cannot read it where i need to.

Just make a new page in wordpress and make it private or passworded ?

That or just use notepad and upload the file to your host via ftp (edited)

Are you saying you want to scrape content from Pastebin and Github and then host it yourself or are you saying you are currently serving text from those places?
