I often wonder why companies do not make universal plug points available on surge protectors or extensions, instead of the regular UK points. For example like the below one from Belkin available in India

Because they'd be illegal to sell in the UK. The UK style sockets have various safety features which are nixed by these types of multiway sockets. At 110V it's maybe less of a problem but at 240V it's getting into serious oooooouch territory. (So far I've not had a 240V zap, still hoping to keep it that way.) (edited)

Good to see they have non-aligned sockets, unlike one like in the pic below where they are directly opposite each other, which is not ideal for larger/odd-shaped plugs & adaptors/chargers with leads coming out of the 'wrong' end, etc, etc (you know what I mean folks).
Granted, will not be perfect for every plug/adaptor, but still better than the aligned one below - although, the Masterplug pictured here is better quality no doubt for a greater price...

In confusion, why does that matter?
Doesn't really offer much more space if you got a big plug

Voted hot! Decent brand, decent price, 8 way individual switches, the only thing missing, is switch protection. Which is quite important.

Can you explain what you mean by 'switch protection' ?

Good price and voted hot. However, with that many sockets you probably want surge protection, given that the average Joe will just plug anything in regardless.

Maybe if you are presenting this as a birthday or wedding gift. Most people buying this will also be the electrician of the household and will know to not overload it.

If these are ever on offer, I'd get one instead of this. Especially if you have larger plugs

    Not individually switched, though.

Regarding surge protecion, Power surges would usually come in from the outside of the home, if you only had one surge protected extension lead plugged in, it's likely that it'll protect other devices on the same ring. (edited)

Any extension that claims to have surge protection without a warranty is going to be useless, and not worth spending extra money on.

Standard price for this according to Keepa - you can buy them cheaper if you buy them direct if you're going to spend over £20

£12.57 including VAT at CPC Farnell, this is on the assumption you spend over £20 so you don't pay £4.99 for delivery. If you buy 2 of these, you still pay for delivery. (edited)

Amazon must have a surplus of these now thanks to the BTC crash + (unjust) rise of energy prices.

Looking for a 10 or 15metre surge protected extension of 4/6 gang but it’s been really tough to find them. Any suggestions?
