What's the difference sorry. As in LAP
I need one of these this week to be installed (prefer the black btw)

I have two of these and also a LAP version, the BG sockets are much harder to click open but they feel much better built and give more confidence of being water proof.
    I prefer the BG. (edited)

Anyone know any that actually fully open up? I've had 3 different ones and they all barely open up more than 90 degrees so if its low down near the floor it's so awkward to plug stuff in. For the LAP ones I feel like it's 50/50 if the lid is broken off when I see one at someones house because they've tried to open the lid more than 90 degrees to plug something in and snapped it off. Have all the manufacturers colluded to all make a bad design as a joke or something? It's a lid, make it fully open, it's gotta be the easiest thing. I got this one for £8 on sale at screwfix but would've held off despite it being fully functional otherwise.

Have two of these. Really well built but the clips at the bottom are difficult to open. You can see the red LED indicators through the front which is useful too.

Go screwfix cheaper newer design with better clips replaced this last week!

Looks very much like the one out the back of my new house. It's clearly been there a while but lasted well. No sign of metal on my cover - plastic all the way with mine.
It's difficult to close (- needs some decent finger strength) but watertight as a result.
Not a chance of fitting one of those oversized plugs for outdoor lights in there and closing it - you'd need to leave the cover loose.
I'm not sure about the complaints of the lid not opening very far. Yes, it doesn't but why would you fit one close to the ground? Mine's probably a foot or so above my patio which seems about right for me and the lid doesn't cause me issues at this height. I guess they might make them this way so if you were to leave the cover open there's still a reasonable amount of protection from water getting in were it to rain(?).

Any deals or recommendations for a smart socket with WiFi extender/Alexa integration?
