I would not buy this, but it led me on a path of discovery to find out once and for all what the little blue disc is. Suffice to say... mind blown. I wonder how many minutes (hours?) of my life I could have saved had I known then what I know now...

And another thing... if Rolson can afford to throw this in on a £5 set, why haven't I got one with my expensive Halfords Advanced set?! (edited)

It's for spinning the sockets on the nut/bolts when they're loose.

Not really a bargain, I bought a similar set for £4 in 1976.

If you'd been a bit smarter you'd have bought a dozen of them so you could flog them on eBay now and make mega profits.

I had a set like this and it proved very valuable. If anyone needed to borrow a socket set from me then this is what they got! My good set never left my hands.

I’m a professional mechanic and I have this set as my main go to sockets. Used daily for many years and still look as good as new.

    You're talking rubbish.
There's no way a professional mechanic would use these as their 'go to' set.
I have this very set. I have been working on cars for many years and these are just not suitable or durable enough for anything, but light duty.
These are like cheese, the rachet breaks, the sockets crack and bend.

However I do have a professional Rolson set that wasn't cheap, 8mm to 32mm, and it's been excellent and IS my go to set.
The 2 sets are worlds apart.

Have a rolson socket set for 7 years and it's never failed me. Not a heavy DIYer but I've fixed up 2 cars and a motorbike with this along with other household jobs.

Picked one of these up years ago. Can't remember what I was using it on but the ratchet sheared on the first bolt.

You get what you pay for!

I got the Stanley one and it's been great for me so far. Bought a longer handle to go with it and it was invaluable for taking down a 30 year old satellite dish and putting up a new one. Buy cheap, buy twice.

I have this set, bought it few years ago.
The tools are solid, no issues. But box is just total junk.
Spend few more quid and get something else, just to save yourself frustration.

So I ordered this, came today, and broke already.

Can't complain much cos it cost pennies but the quality is awful.
