To those voting cold, show me where can I get it cheaper or a similar card for the money.
well i would go for a RX 480 8gig version for the same moneyhttps://www.overclockers.co.uk/his-radeon-rx-480-iceq-x2-oc-8192mb-gddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-10e-hs.html
ORhttps://www.overclockers.co.uk/his-radeon-rx-480-iceq-x2-turbo-8192mb-gddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-10f-hs.html
OR Again you can get a GTX 980 on ebay second hand for around sub £200
A RX480 8gig is about on par with a 6 gig gtx 1060. BUT a second hand GTX 980 from ebay is way better and on par with a 1070 but cheaper. depending on if you want brand new or better but second hand.
It's the 980ti that's on par with a 1070. standard 980 is equal to a 1060.
never
1070 ~ 980ti. The 980 is no where near. Besides 1070 is better in all aspects; temperature, clock-speed and newer.

""While the higher-end GTX 1080 wins out with brute specs including GDDR5X memory that's clocked at 10GHz, and while the GTX 1070 isn't as beefy as its big brother, it can swing at the same weight and size, beating nearly everything else we tested in most games, except for the GTX 1080.""

Yeah. Nothing to do what you have said before:

"a second hand GTX 980 from ebay is way better and on par with a 1070"

which is not true and I just as said as many others that the 980ti is on pair with 1070

Heat for the heads up, but it looks like the retailers on offer mean that it may be cheaper to buy - for example the 1080 armour from Amazon.it - and miss the cashback. Unless I'm misunderstanding something, or missing a winning combination?
I dont think so, you have to make a claim for your cashback, and you need upload your invoice from qualifying suppliers. read t&c on MSI cashback site. Retailers can't take this offer from you as its directly from MSI... This is what I think.. But, amazon.co.uk is listed as UK qualified retailer, and amazon.it isnt, shame as this will be pretty tempting offer for MSI 1080 at 506 euros - 50 cashback...
https://msi-promotions.com/
Also here is how it should be advertised if retailer showing prices "including" cashback.. You still need to pay full price, then claim cashback from MSI...
https://www.box.co.uk/products/keywords/MSI+Geforce+GTX/ex/true
I waiting for confirmation from MSI as dropped them email regarding this...

also, no ti's in it, which im the market for!

Vega will cost double what this card is... HMB2 vram is much more expensive then gddr5 or x.. i bet 600+ for 8gb version 900+ for 16gb liquid cooled. Lowest version will have HMB 4gb, just like fury x and this will cost maybe 450+ . Prices for nvidia i bet would not go much down as vega will compete only on enthusiast market not mid range, rx580 is they mid with 280£ price tags... We can wait year for next gen Nvidia or price drops on vega or.... I want play tommorow. 1070 is enough for my needs :)

Personally if I was in the market for a new GPU I'd hold off until next month when AMD's Vega GPU's get released which has been a long time coming as AMD have really dropped the ball on letting Nvidia monopolise the high end GPU market in the last year and the Vega architecture is supposedly very very good so will give the 1070/1080's a good run for their money
Heat though because it's a decent deal, same price at overclockers as well if you prefer them over Amazon
...or wait until Navi and Volta...or wait until........
next month confirmed is it for Vega, source please.

you do know next month is May and Q2/H1 ends in June?
I guess I have to repeat myself.... It's the end of April surely you're not all so pedantic to say June is 2 months away ?

Arnt gtx1080 already using GDDR5X what makes them better then 1070? They will quicker relase 20xx series then upgarde old models...
ritchiedrama
kester76
I was tempted by this but I think it uses GDDR5 instead of GDDR5x which has been rumoured to be rolled out soon on on the lower tiers. Also with AMD releasing a GPU I'm waiting to see how it shakes up the market 1st :)

Pretty sure that has and is only happening for the 1060 and1080

I've heard the same but I doubt they will keep the 1070 on gddr5 when gddr5x runs at a higher speed and lower voltage.

Thanks for the post MelinTrip. Such a shame people are allowed to vote on things they haven't a clue about.
This is one of the higher end 1080 Ti's and its being sold at just over the same price as Founders Edition cards.
I have an MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X and paid £30 more than this... wish I'd held out for this now.
Heat added. Not that it matters :(

Ah well, what can you do. If anyone's searching for a new 1080ti this card is right up there with Asus' Strix OC model and for £80 less you cannot go wrong.

I've been hunting a better price for this card over the past few weeks, emailing companies for price matches etc. Nearly ordered from Alza but have never purchased from them before so was a bit apprehensive. :|

I got this from Dell for roughly the same price, and I sent it back, at 4k even web pages were a struggle for this.
That's insane. If you are having problems with displaying web pages on a quad core i7 with 16GB RAM, PCIe SSD and GTX 1050ti graphics, either your ISP streaming isn't up to it, or you've managed to get your laptop slowed down with malware or bloatware.

No and no. It was just bad. I only had it for a couple of hours and sent it back. 4k video played ok, games were ok, but anything else had a odd judder to it. so back it went.
Just be aware, if the hinges break they aren't covered by warranty, screws come loose. you'll have difficulty getting Dell to do anything. If you have any other issue Dell can pass off as "You must have dropped it" you're not covered. Suggest you look up Dell reviews on the net, until they sort their customer service I would rather buy from Dell Boy.
Unless you're on first name terms with Michael Dell then avoid, it took a tweet to him before Dell UK took my laptop to fix. Hinge screw was missing inside, they accused me of dropping the laptop and initially wanted £220 to repair, also stating my warranty was expired as they had shipped it to an online retailer 3 months before I bought it.
Now sorted but it took a week of abuse from Indian call centre staff first.

I like this laptop very much. However (for me) its let down in a couple of areas. Which are: no 1080p IPS option, and no thunderbolt port...
However these 2 missing features seem included by the Lenovo Yoga 720! It just doesnt seem to be available in the UK yet. Sorry thats not meant to be an advertisement or anything. Its just like we were discussing here about the 4k panel being a bit of a sticking point for some of us.

The new Lenovo does look very interesting, but unfortunately, as you say, it's not available over here yet, and we don't know what the price will be.

The lack of thunderbolt is a disappointment, but not a deal killer for me. Sure, it's an improvement on USB 3.0, but apart from a backup disk and the occasional USB memory stick I'm not really looking to add any external devices. I suspect that's true for quite a lot of people.

Actually I'm not worried about gaming - I just need a decent photo and video editing machine and a 4K screen should help.

Nope. Smaller heatsink and 1 fan. It won't be able to cool itself as well and will thermal throttle (lower its speed) to keep temperatures in check. So no unless it's a small for factor case, never buy these mini cards.

Why cold? It is not that bad of a price for a 1070 in the uk.
it's great for one of the better 1070's, problem is it likely doesn't appeal to some so as they don't know they vote cold. Someone mentioned recently they just view all deals because there are some really good ones that get buried by ignorance. Best idea i've had in a while because I've been keeping an eye on the gaming x version of the 1070 to buy and this popped up

Yeah I though about it that pp just ignore it or because it is not crazy cheap or smoking hot deal,so they think it is still expensive. But it is strange how people`s mind works isn`t it?! By the way if you want a gaming X sometime on amazon.fr it is 399 Euros which is about 340 Pounds. They are quite good and shipping is quick. Only make sure you buy it in Euros and do not change it to pound cos the rate is worth in pounds and your bank change it on the current rate (although they also charge you something small for the currency change.)

Why cold? It is not that bad of a price for a 1070 in the uk.

Just in case anyone is interested I added the NZXT G10 with a used H75 to this card so it can be done. Sadly best I can get is 2012/12214.
Post office card still free abroad
gone back up in price
get a free supercard and link it to your bank card and get a perfect exchange rate without any fees
Oh and heat...haven't compared EU prices of the 1080i but this seems reassuringly priced.

I always vote cold on very deals where the cheapness is only based on you getting money off as a new customer.
The point Uncommon.Sense is trying to make, I think, is that you shouldn't rely on credit to buy a graphics card - you don't "need" a graphics card, so getting into debt just to own one, seems a bit daft.

But who needs to be responsible, when credit is thrown at us left right and centre? X)

I've done these sort of deals with Very before, and they do happily pay the 10% towards the credit on your account, but they generally don't stack offers sadly. It is a lot of hassle when you can get a brand new card from Amazon HERE for around £420, with no need for cashback, account credits and discount codes.
It's still a good deal, but I can't say I'd want to risk it for about £25 saving. :(
I like the MSI brand. That was the other thing. Also i received my credit and paying for it monthly which might suit some people the ability to afford such a card.
Point taken, but unless you are taking advantage of the 0% BNPL, the ability to 'afford' this card only on a credit basis would worry me from a financial point of view.
Don't get me wrong I am a big fan of credit where you are the winner, and paying nothing for the privilege but actually holding on to your capital longer, but by the time you paid of this card it would be worth less than the balance outstanding.
Hi

Which it is, the 12 months 0% BNPL. People do have to rely on credit sometimes to "afford" higher end gaming components. My apologies if this would cause a worry to you.

I don't think it's that bad, but the MSI Armor can be had for £35 less, maybe that's why?

I've gone right off Amazon Warehouse since I was it voids manufacturer's guarantee.
Zotac is 5 years I think. So they're selling rejected/opened products with their original guarantee now void, as you're not the original purchaser, for barely a 10% discount.
Rip off I reckon.
A rare voice of sanity, they won't listen.

That card doesn't have to be used even if it stands there - in amazon warehouse it means it was damaged by a picker, it was returned but opened by a customer or it is just a damaged box. Read the description on it where it will say exactly what is the problem :) I bought few things 20-30% cheaper when it was only box opened but product untouched with full warranty. :)

they only have stock listed as "very good" = Repackaged and small imperfection on the front of the item,
you get 30 days return if your not happy...

I bought the laptop when it was £740 and it is a good laptop.

Plays most games on medium settings, it is a good laptop for the price.. However IMO the screen is matte and pretty dark at times, so might be better to look elsewhere.

Personally think Zotac just carries a bit of a taboo in the UK market... shame really as they're decent cards at the end of the day!
why not go all in for the The Hydro GFX 1080 Ti and its radiator ?

I think if I had a graphics card this powerful I would die.
you'd be hyped for a couple of weeks then the novelty wears off and the fancy graphics become normalised. coming from someone who has spent too much on stuff like this. once you get into a game, the only thing you actually appreciate is high frame rate for smoothness. if everything else was medium settings I think I'd barely notice after a couple of minutes compared to ultra. I suppose it depends on the game tho.
100% agreed, even in my own experience when playing the most stunning visual games, after 5 mins you no longer pay that much attention to it, one thing though is fps preferences stay the same (I will notice if my fps goes below a certain point).

The MSI Geforce GTX 1080 TI Armor 11G OC is only £660 HERE! - what makes the Gaming X version worth £54 + £6 postage more? Genuine question, as it appears to be a few MHz on the core, and most of the Pascal 1080 TI's clock a lot higher than these out of the box anyhow.

I think it's probably going cold because people are clicking through and seeing the price is wrong - then not taking it through to check out where the price drops. Bit of a weird one. Not sure what's going on with the Amazon website!

Coming up as £426.07 once through the whole process now, so even 43p cheaper than your headling price. Heat from me! Great find! :)

Don't get it myself. Card is relatively speaking a bargain at this (and your price)

Quite ironically, I've realised the fact that it is currently the best price you can buy it for doesn't mean it's a good deal on HUKD, it's like Westminster, all politics and what people themselves consider value for money. THat is why I always end up trawling the new deals section, and generally you get more deals from the stuff that never gets past 100 degrees.

Broken site, is broken but the site owners won't fix it as they still pile in the cash from affiliate links regardless.

Voted hot, good price. I just don't like that its a single slot card. I've my eye on the Gigabyte version, more outputs, backplate, and takes a 6pin connector so hopefully overclocks better, but it is £13 more expensive.
I guess it's a little worse value than a RX480, but will be really nice for people who either don't have a 6/8pin PCI-E power plug, or just wants a more efficient GPU.
Lahn
This is nowhere near the RX480 though, even if it's a good price for the 1050ti.
Yes, it's a good price but the 1050Ti is around 65% the speed of a RX480 according to CB
https://www.computerbase.de/thema/grafikkarte/rangliste/
or 63% according to TPU (although they only have an 8GB 480 in their bench):
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_1060_Armor/30.html
Uses a lot less power though.
TPU card only: 57W vs 163W (106W difference)
CB complete sytem power: 130W vs 215W (85W difference)
The difference between them is possible explained by the hardware scheduler on the Radeon vs the drivers doing that work on Nvidia cards, but none of these benches show the CPU load. While I appreciate the likes of TPU measuring the card only, if different GPUs stress the CPU differently it doesn't tell the whole story; I guess it goes to show yet again that if you want the complete picture you have to read multiple reviews. Maybe the calculated TDP which Guru3D use is more accurate:

Just wanted to let you guys know the EVGA ACX 3.0 gpus are affected by hot VRM temps.
Here is a video from JayzTwoCents giving a quick overview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URyG1OP8p8I
Nothing catastrophic but might affect these cards.
Checking their website they have seemed to have fixed the issue since 1/11/2016. Might be worth putting in serial number once received to see if application has been installed on your GPU. http://www.evga.com/thermalmod/
I wouldn't call the vrm temps hot. Warm maybe. VRMs aren't nearly as susceptible to heat as processors. With or without the mod your card isn't going to be any different to any other 1080. Whole thing was blown way out of proportion by people who didn't understand what they were talking about.

ICX cooling and sending the card is completely different thing. You messed two separate things together. As I said all the cards in the shops are already updated with new pads and bios.
On the top of that you can get a refreshed model with new ICX cooling called FTW2 ICX.

I noticed this yesterday on PC Partpicker. Had been weighing up whether to upgrade to a 1600X system, and price wise it came out as the same price as this. Seems a no brainer to stick with a 4790K and pair it with a 1080 at this price.

Should have gone with the 1600x and a 1070.

Doubt there's much of a difference between the 1600x and the 4790k when it comes to gaming. Plus you'd have to buy a new motherboard and ddr4 ram so its really not worth it for little to no benefit. Getting the 1080 is definitely the better option.

none atm, but the improvement of this card over igpu gets you ?? for this money you could afford an i5 instead of i3 or i7 instaed of i5.

Yes, currently the Intel HD 580 Iris Pro is the fastest IGP and it's still not even half this speed. HD 580 is also not available on desktop. Intel call the HD 580 config GT4e and according to this:
https://techreport.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=117799
Its die size is 234mm² with ~71% of that being GPU which is about 168mm². GP107 as used in this GTX 1050 is 132mm² on TSMC's 16nm FF which should be less dense than Intel's 14nm. Obviously memory bandwidth plays a big role (and the EDRAM is separate on the package at another 84mm²), and with something as parallel as a GPU it is possible to go slow and wide (although HD580 still runs at upto 1150MHz).

But basically, Intel do those Iris Pros because they fell they have to, but their area/perf is rather poor and probably doesn't make the margins Intel are used to (which explains why they haven't felt the need to have any more desktop parts since Broadwell even though Broadwell unlocked 'C' parts regular do very well in benchmarks).

The fastest AMD would be something like what's on the A12-9800 which is OEM only AM4 Excavator processor and is only about half the speed of the Intel HD 580 so roughly a quarter the speed of this.

GwanGy
incidentally why do am4 mobos have all those video outputs, ryzen has no igpu ?
ZEN APUs are going to be AM4 too. The mobile ones are expected later in the year, desktop AM4 later.

What is a better question is: why do some high-end AM4 not have video outputs? Are buyers of the Asus Crosshair, ASRock Taichi or Fatal1ty so sure they will never want or need to use any future APUs that they are willing to give up the flexibility. Those three are all £200+ boards too.

Best time to buy a video card is probably December, February and March.
Reason:
From April to June / July you have to wait for the new models to come out.
July to September / October you have to wait for the manufacturing shortage to sort out and prices to get to an affordable level.
October and November - no point of buying anything as you want to wait for December deals.
January Is usually a dead month and you recover from December spending spree.
Conclusion: if you want to buy something just do it as you can wait forever and a bit.

Would also add the end of November; black friday was good for graphics cards last year.

Rx 480 is better value
Does the RX480 help with CUDA optimised applications?
I'm pretty sure that 99% of 1060 buyers buy it for gaming. Where 3GB is already a limit which is only likely to get worse.
As for this specific deal, well a random ebay vendor selling this card for £10 less than Amazon direct. Think I'd rather play it safe and buy from Amazon:https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01KLX0M6M?amp;creative=22110&creativeASIN=B01KLX0M6M&linkCode=df0
For those who want a 3GB 1060, if the 6GB model of the Palit Dual is anything to go by this doesn't seem to be the best:https://www.computerbase.de/2016-10/geforce-gtx-1060-partnerkarten-vergleich-test/2/
That card has the worst boost clock and along with the Gainward actually scored below the 1060 F's Edition.
So that will be a no then.
I guess photo and video editors are only 1% of the computer landscape?
I didn't say. I said that most people buying a 3GB GTX 1060 are going to be gaming. Last time I looked, some functions weren't very GPU spec dependent (a GTX650 scored the same as a GTX780 in them), but for those which actually use shaders etc. well, surely for professional use it would make sense to get a way faster card than this one.

But by all means show me some recent benchmarks of the 1060 in Photoshop etc. preferably where they compared CUDA vs OpenCL (that is Nvidia vs AMD since running both on an Nvidia card might only show that Nvidia don't take OpenCL drivers seriously).

Another thing reviews and benchmarks don't seem to bother with are plugins/filters. Filters were the main reason professional Photoshop users used to spend £1000s on DSP-based accelerator boards for Macs back in the 1990s, so if some filter makes heavy use of CUDA that could be a major reason to stick with Nvidia.

I can honestly say that the most enjoyment I've ever had with computer games was with the Spectrum, C64, and some of the Sierra Online games of the mid-80's. Apart from the Call of Duty series and Medal of Honor series, I don't really game much these days, and to be honest, 4k over 1080p wouldn't make a great deal of difference if the game is rubbish.

I may well get an Xbox Scorpio as already said before, and that will undoubtedly do me for the games I like playing. If people want to spend hundreds on a graphics card, then up to them, but I will never see the sense in it.
gabesdad
I've seen people prepared to spend over £500 on a graphics card which seems demented to me. Fair enough if you're doing high end video editing, graphics work, etc., but for games it seems to have gone beyond sense now.

Clearly you have not experienced 4k gaming at 60 FPS.

Once you've ventured forward, it's hard to venture back.

Try playing a 720p game now days, you'll see where we came from and realize that will always exist. It looks good *right now* because this is all we are used to.

Haven't you ever heard of someone spending £1,000 or more on a big TV, just for watching TV and movies?
Indeed, do you think that nobody buys those £10,000+ projectors?
My wife's library of physical books has easily cost at least £5,000 over the years - it fills our library and most of her studio!
Guitarists will spend £500-1,000 on one guitar... and most will have several.
But for all of the above cases, those are above-average spends, for enthusiasts.
So I'm curious - what's different about this particular field of entertainment, that makes use of some of the most cutting-edge technology in the world, that makes you think the top-tier enthusiasts spending £500 is "demented"? Are you saying that any enthusiast spending £500 on any kind of entertainment is demented, or do you have double standards?
I say this as a PC gamer of 20 years, but all the things you've listed above seem like infinately better way to spend money and time on, than a graphics card to play computer games, which I'll probably do on my own.
Even a £10,000 projector? o_O The list goes on, of course - classic cars that people never drive, collector's edition toys that they'll never open, potpourri, bottles of fine wine, first-edition comics that they'll never read (incidentally, my wife almost never touches her books! ;)), brand-name clothes, golf clubs (people spend well over £1,000 for a set of eight irons alone, just so they can hit a little white ball as they go for a walk), £100 for a tiny bottle of perfume (perhaps more understandable for desperately single people!), and, of course, a brand new car. My tiny, tiny list wasn't exhaustive, and neither is this - please feel free to exercise your imagination.

£500 is the kind of money you have lying around in your wallet. Unless you're still in your twenties, or living month-to-month on the edge of the bankruptcy abyss because financial planning isn't your forté, it won't be missed; it won't make an appreciable difference to your retirement fund. I haven't spent £500 on a graphics card, either, but some people really want high-quality graphics - why begrudge them spending a couple of hundred pounds over what the rest of us spend? We get diminishing returns in just about every field of entertainment expenditure.

And besides, most of us don't play with ourselves. ;)
lewisjohnsmith1992
3GB just won't futureproof you, may as well spend the little extra to get the 6GB.

Or save 40-50 quid, ear mark it for "the future" and buy this card for "the now".

Even if that model is out of reach for both you and me it might effect prices on other cards but no one really knows at the moment. i only built my first pc at christmas and very happy with the improvement over console. I have a amd fury gpu for £230 as it was the best value at the time and it plays everything i have at 2k on ultra settings at a decent framerate apart from the new mass effect which is very demanding. I would love a card that will play at 4k at a decent framerate one day but i agree £700 is a bit much.

I hope so, got my RMA from OCUK and sending out the card this morning. I think I might just use my gaming laptop for now and sell the card. lol Undecided yet.

the RX480 matches AND beats it in MOST titles
Not sure where you get your information.
Ignoring the oxymoron of the 480 both matching AND beating the 1060... :D I've seen one source - just one - that claims that the 480 has caught up to the 1060, a few months ago. Not beaten it - caught up to it. Running tests on an i7, that is. A few weeks later, another article with updated tests still put the 1060 significantly ahead of the 480 (again, on an i7 - although the gap has definitely appeared to narrow since release). So I'd like to see where a 480 has overtaken a 1060, "beat[ing] it in MOST titles", if you'd be so kind?
Of course, running on an i7 (and Windows, incidentally) produces the absolute best-case scenario for the 480, as the performance dials back far more quickly with lower CPUs compared with the 1060. Anyone looking for a nice, strong card for an i3, non-overclockable i5, or Ryzen CPU would probably still be better off with a 1060 (although sadly, there are very few reviews using Ryzen with a 480 so far - although I did notice that the 480 gets better performance with Ryzen with some DX12 titles that don't see any improvement on Nvidia. But I digress...).
I don't see anyone claiming Polaris has "heat issues" - but it's a fact that the 480 runs hotter than the 1060. Of course, it uses a lot more power (the power used by the 1060 is ridiculously tiny), so we'd expect it to run hotter. Although that does lead onto the power consumption. There would certainly be people with PSUs that could handle the 1060, but not the 480, so for those people, you'd have to add in the cost of a new PSU. (The cost of the increased wattage on a 'leccy bill would only be an extra ~£5/year for the 480, so not a big deal.)
And anyone interested in gaming on a Steam machine, or gaming in Linux, still cannot consider an AMD GPU. We've finally moved past the point where a 750 outperforms a Fury, but AMD's still far, far behind in any non-Windows PC gaming.
But, yes, if you have an i7, a good enough PSU, and will only use Windows, then the 8GB 480 is certainly a compelling alternative to the 6GB 1060 - a ~£25 saving for slightly less performance with only a small increase in power consumption and temperatures would make it a fairly even choice, so this (~£220 or less) really is the price that a 6GB 1060 needs to be.
A decent Freesync monitor would then make the 480 a no-brainer.
You're wrong. So don't waste your time writing stuff to me, EVER, again.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEw3CaNSbUohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiYQqNiqQKU
Plenty more in the last few months.
Errr... one of those links is the same article I shared with you - except mine was for people able to read, rather than sit slack-jawed in front of their screens as the article is read aloud to them. :D Again, at the risk of repeating myself (and them) - the 480 didn't mostly beat the 1060, no matter how many times you devolve into ALL CAPS.
Your second link shows the 1060 ahead in lots and lots and lots of games - Dishonored 2, Battlefield 1, Watch Dogs 2, Gears of War 4, Civ VI... indeed, they even ended by summarising that the 1060 is "faster on average" than the 480 (literal quote from near the end of the video in your link! :D), I'm not sure what your point is...? (Although I hadn't seen the 480 ahead in F1 before, so at least I learned something from your misfire! :))
Oh, any chance all those tests were run on an i7? No comment on the 480 needing a high-end CPU?
No comment about the hotter 480?
No comment about the increased power consumption?
No comment about the shockingly bad performance in SteamOS and Linux?
I completely understand your position. I'm a bit of a Logitech fanboy, myself - so, of course, any genuine flaws in Logitech products simply DO NOT EXIST for me. :{
Buy Logitech!

It shows the rate of improvement over and over again, I am not an AMD fanboy, I hate AMD, every last part of it, but you can see the evolving for yourself with the 480, dx12 titles are starting to go ahead with the rx480 at a cheaper price point, which was originally what I said.

You can say hotter all you want, all of that is relative just like my 1080 Ti maxes out at 67 degrees while every reviewer and everyone else is hitting into the 70's+

How can you hate the company that gives the current generation of games consoles their splendid graphics and brought 64 bit computing to the average Joe? oO

Editted the post to counter some of the arguments, but yes AMD cards are cheaper. They also run hotter, and arn't any good with GSync monitors. It's down to preference.
Gsync monitors are expensive, over-priced nonsense.
AMD old stuff runs hot, not their new stuff, and none of the good branding non-reference cards have heat issues, either.
I'm not sure where you get your information.
Are you saying AMD cards are suitable for people who already own GSync monitors?
No-one with a brain would buy a 1060 if they had a Gsync monitor already.
GSync is for when the fps varies, 144Hz monitors are for fps rates up to 144. You can play games at above 60fps on a 1060.... but you know that right?
You'll never understand, I give up, you're the kind of person who goes to PCWorld to buy stuff, or the kind of person who thinks 60fps is a good gaming experience.
You didn't even understand my point, like, I am speechless.
What's wrong with 60fps? Even 30fps is fine for some games. PC world is fine if they have something cheap

I cannot reason with ridiculous comments like this, 60 fps is horrendous on my eyes.

I hear ya, many can't though; since treating my eyes to a monitor than can keep up with my graphics card it's like bathing them in silk after using a horrid 60Hz HP monitor at work for any length of time 8)
I got my 24" BenQ GSync monitor for £200 ;)

Very interested in that Amiga 1200 for £50 in 1994. I've never seen them that cheap before. Where did you see that?

I wanted to pick up the French magazine that published a photo of President François Mitterrand's secret daughter, so jumped back to 1994. I really missed the old copy parties, so picked up an Amiga while I was there. They are so damn pricey these days!

I was going to go for another 1070 to use in sli. I've read some articles about the 1070 in sli mode and they say they are blisteringly fast. However, it seems that not all games support sli. I still cant decide

I personally wouldn't, suppose if you was thinking of paying £300+ for another 1070, could sell your current one and put all the money towards the 1080ti

Sound advice. I'll get a good price for my current 1070. It's a high end MSI card. And then I'll put that towards a 1080ti. Maybe. There's no rush.

our prices are subject to change at any time and we don't actually have stock yet
this will probably change again
all the 1080Ti's will be updated with proper pricing when we get stock
well its quite dissapointing
i think that price £685.57 yesterday was a publicity stunt
i posted it on http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-gaming-oc-11gb-with-free-game-685-57-ccl-2655764

the manufacturer of the card hasn't even decided on the price
we are just using whatever they say at the time
and you just dissapointed everyone in that forum
ok
we don't even change them they are direct prices from NVIDIA
ok i understand
the price will only be fixed when we have stock in the building
i understand it's not ideal for you
can i post this reply in that link i sent
but it's the best we can do
ok
thanks for explaining
no worries
it will be sorted in the next week or so

They knew the price a month ago. All the distributors did. Perhaps it was a stunt. Not cool ccl. But generally their prices are good.

waiting on vega also but when rumors are the 580 is due out end of this months begining of next but that is rumored again as polarus
Rumors? It's out. The 580 is about 3-5% higher clocked compared to the 480.
But it is quite literally a 480 re-badged with a better process. There are no changes, just clock speed.
There is a bios flash that is going around that flashes the 480 to the 580, again, with roughly 3-5% gains all based on the higher clocks.
It's really deceptive and unfair to customers that this was called the '580' when it is really a slightly improved 480.
Nvidia and AMD both do this GPU rebadging, it's nothing new, most people aren't fooled by it, that is if they take a minute to research it. AMD Vega and Nvidia Volta are the next gen GPUs out this year.
NVIDIA have not rebadged to this same degree. It is the exact card with barely higher clocks at the top end of their card lineup.

I agree. Here's some history >

I built my new pc back in October and kept hearing the wait for this wait for that comments but indeed went for a 1070 and have been enjoying it since , it's a beast of a card. I had the same thoughts when trying to decide to go for the 6700k or wait for the kaby lakes/ ryzen , again glad I didn't. I think you have to weigh up the advantages and disavantages but it's not like the "old day's" anymore with massive differences. To be honest I don't think it ever will be.
Nice deal op, heat added.
I have a 6700k also, what cooler have you gone for?

I went for a H100i and barely see over 50 when gaming but I have the 7600k

Just went for an air cooler and the arctic freezer 13 , when my pc is running flat out playing bf1 for example I get temps of about 72 max. I have a big Fractal R4 case from previous pc, so airflow is great.

At the time of posting this it was not released and i do agree the 580 is just a upclocked 480 which was expected by most acouple of people have even flashed their 480 with 580 bios

That £315.86 would be ex-vat. Since most people pay VAT, the more accurate price would be £379.03.
