Not much of an upgrade, I'd only upgrade to a card that gives you a minimum of 30% increase.

Upgraded my girlfriends rig from my own Gtx970 to this when it was £247 a week or two ago. Great card for 1080p

Good card for 1080p. Nothing else , rather I would buy second hand 3070 :P

100%! bought a used 3070 for 260 a few weeks back for my first build. It was an overheating mess because it was long overdue for proper cleaning. Temps were much better after applying new thermal paste and giving it a squeaky clean.

Honestly if you don't mind spending like an hour or so on the weekend then definitely go for used previous gen cards. I guess you can pay a bit extra and get something from cex as well (but may require cleaning as well). I understand that not everyone is comfortable with buying used and the headache it may come with. (edited)

Bought the gaming x version of this 2 weeks ago. Love it how silent it is. Definitely a 1080p ultra card and 1440 medium-high. If you’ve got a tv with great upscaling like a Sony with xr processor then you shouldn’t bother with more than 1080p imo. 1080p upscaling for sonys are very close to 4k (edited)

Any better than the 5600 XT? If so, I’ll buy for my son

About 41% better according to techpowerup

great card for 1080p if you are not playing the latest AAA games (example Alan wake 2, 30 fps!). Because if you do, even at 1080p you will need to turn on upscalling and upscalling is not the best at low resolutions. And you wont be doing any "RTX" either. I think this gpu is not worth the money. I rather wait for Battlemage at the end of the year. (edited)

1080p with dlss quality should be 720p upscaled to 1080p. Then the tv does the rest of the work to upscale to 4k. I personally don’t see the difference in quality between dlss off at 1080p and dlss on for the same resolution
