    Be warned that the connection to the base gets worse over time and sometimes this makes you unable to detach the device. With the base not recognized, you cannot charge the laptop. You have to mechanically disable the attachment mechanism (cumbersome) so be careful while buying used. What is worse is that you cannot replace the base with another one as each base is locked into its own tablet. I have mine for more than 4 years and still loving it though. (edited)

    Niche question - could this be turned into a handheld gaming device by detaching the keyboard base and attaching a telescopic controller to it? can this thing game?

    The gpu is store in the base on the laptop, so when un-docked it's just using the igpu so will be less powerful so probs not the best for what you want.

    got a great deal on one off ebay but it's really irritating to say the least that the camera bug kicks in and then you can't use video calling or windows hello until you reboot... I don't know why there isn't a class action lawsuit against microsoft for this as it has affected several generations of what is otherwise a great piece of kit
