Why are these twice the price of the Halfords Advanced set halfords.com/too…tml?
The Halfords Advanced range are excellent quality tools and have the backup of the unreserved lifetime guarantee. I don’t see this here - just the brand name Bosch which quite frankly been somewhat marred in my mind over the last 20 years by declining quality.

I don't think the Wera spanners have bearings in them (maybe one). The bosch and Wera have completely different mechanisms. Wera use a gear/pawl ratcheting mechanism, Bosch use a gearless mechanism. Not sure which is finer.

edit. Bosch claim 3° swing arc so they should be finer than Wera. I think Wera are 80 tooth 4.5°. (edited)

Does anyone know how these compare to the Wera Joker set posted recently?

I don't really need to use tools much so if it's just saving time, I'd just get a normal set. But are there any other benefits of ratchet? Do they cause less damage to bolts. My hex keys and screwdriver keep damaging the heads/insides of things (unless it's how I'm using them?).

Yes ratchet saves time that's the only the real benefit. Your hex & screwdriver's shouldn't be damaging heads unless the screw's have already been slightly damaged or you are using cheap tools? Or like you said you are using them incorrectly

Not quite, ratchets are also extremely useful when you're working in a very confined space where you don't have the clearance to turn the spanner very much, or when you're working blind, such as when you've got your arm buried at the back of a car engine.

It could be couple of reasons. First : wrong tip on your screwdriver, second poor quality of Bolt or screw, third Bolt or screw not propertly put on thread, four bad quality tools so they round off bolts and screws

Couldn't agree more. People forget about or don't realise how good the Halfords Advanced range is.

not even hot either these have hit 60 a few times. Though still over priced.

I'd not seen the Halfords Advanced range as I tend to steer clear of the store and, as it happens, I'm on the hunt for a new socket set, so thanks for the tip.

over priced. they look good but the Halfords set are a better deal. plus Halfords offer trade discount to anyone with a GCSE and an additional 3.3% with quidco.

The 3 degrees ratchet is really useful - not sure what the Halford Pro set has but assume it is similar. Sometimes there is not much room to move.
