Very good deal but if you do buy one make sure you push the speed control firmly into the position you want or it can not engage the gearbox properly and sounds like its knackered.

This will do the job for wood/metal and masonry drilling plus comes with 2 batteries. The price fluctuates a lot so maybe worth camelcameling the price as picked one up for £55 on amazon a year ago

Is this strong enough for drilling in the walls?

No good for brick or breezeblock, you'd need the PSB1800, which has got a hammer action. Currently on sale at B&Q for £70. (edited)

Please don't buy this. You can buy the Metabo POWERMAXX BS12 for £65 and it's in a different league. The Metabo is a professional tool by a very reputable manufacturer and is built to last . The Bosch green drills are DIY tools designed to last for a few years of light DIY use. Don't be fooled by the voltage. It's about torque and the Metabo 12v has more torque than the Bosch drill listed here. Plus if you like the Metabo one, you can buy loads of other 12v tools without the battery (bare tools) for very little and use the battery from this one.

The Bosch one listed does not have a hammer function so bricks are out of the question. The Bosch GSB120-Li (on Amazon for £80) does. It's Bosch blue which is the professional range and totally different to the green range. I own this tool and it will drill into brickwork quite happily. The Bosch green one listed above is also designed for a few years of DIY use. I would always buy professional if I could afford it.

SDS drill for drilling holes in domestic walls is a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Would be fine for rawl plugs into plasterboard, brick or concrete. Wouldn't expect it to drill larger holesaw holes in wood or more than 10mm in brick

Always been this price... So not really a deal?

Ideally you need the PSB if you want to drill into masonry.

    No it isn’t.
I owned this drill and for basic things such as drilling Masonry to put a plug in it struggled. Took 10x longer than I hoped.

I bought this as a replacementinstead, it’s been brilliant for the cost. This has been used on reinforced concrete, putting curtain rails up, drilling holes for sleepers.

Voted cold based on experience this drill is not powerful enough for basic jobs. (edited)

way better deal, Green bosh are diy products . This one you posted is a borderline pro and with 2 batteries so you will have less chance on getting caught out, without any power to finish your job .

I am no expert but I assume, you would probably be better off with one with hammer action and masonary drill bits, I picked up a Ryobi one from B&Q 5 years ago for £50 and it's still going strong, can't get it for that price now.

I agree a corded SDS drill is the best for drilling into bricks etc. I bought a cheap ALDI /LIDL corded SDS drill for about £40 and it’s been great - being SDS no need to worry about the bit loosening in the chuck

If you tried to drill in brick with this model, you used the wrong tool for the job really, which isn't a reason to vote cold.

Drill drivers are better suited to drilling / driving in materials like wood, plastic or metal.

Combi drills (with hammer action) are for brick (and other general drilling / driving).

Had one of these for about 4/5 years. Battery lasts well, charges quickly. It’s used mainly for drilling and screwing into wood, assembling flat pack stuff etc - it’s ideal for that sort of thing. You can drill into mortar and softer bricks if you need to but it’s not a hammer drill so don’t expect it to the job of a hammer drill.

unless you're in a hurry you'd be better off waiting for an offer like this to come round again if you want Bosch: hotukdeals.com/dea…198

Otherwise most people would be better off with pretty much any DIY-brand combi rather than this drill-driver. There's no good reason to buy this when you can get something more versatile and at least as well built as this is for the same money or less.

Can anyone recommend a cordless suitable for a newbie to put up shelves and make furniture and should I be investing in something to make sure I don't hit wires and pipes...all jokes aside it is my luck! I have witnessed so much DIY, was pretty much a proper lackie.. but I ignored my ex most the time by then, which just to defend that, you would have done too if you knew him...
Thank you in advance. I have shelves that have been waiting for months to do and the kids haven't offered lol

Hi, I’m looking for a drill for home DIY. Don’t really know what I’m looking at so any advice would be absorbed.

Want one that has multi speed, hammer etc. Can be used to drill into Bricks, Wood, Stone and through plaster covered walls to hang shelves, pictures and attach wardrobes to the wall etc.

Sorry for sounding such a noob but DIY isn’t my area of expertise
