They are a poor boot. Berghaus never seem to have cracked making a decent leather boot (their fabric boots are top notch though).

My thoughts are that they tend to use too fine a grade of leather to get the look and it's just not up to the abuse a walking boot will get.

You'll be lucky to get 12 months of decent walking out of them before they start giving you issues and their leather is famously bad at being water-proofed. That means while the Goretex will keep the water getting in, the wet leather will stop the Goretex breathing so you'll get wet feet.

If you want leather boots, skip these and buy Scarpa or Meindl boots.

Hi @davester2k ! I posted further up about the Peter Storm boots i bought from Go Outdoors for £39! I’ve not worn them yet and was considering returning them and buying these Berghaus boots? What would your opinion be. Thanks in advance.

I own a pair, great waterproof boots so far, upper surface is drying quick , never had wet socks, 4 years and still going strong, lost a bit of their good looking side, but so comfortable and reliable, you will not regret having them.

£126 at Go Outdoors! Will they be in stock at this price tomorrow for a price match? Do Go Outdoors match Amazon? Thanks in advance. (edited)

    Replying to

I have 2 pairs of Berghaus boots, one fabric one similar to this. They are both true to size. I am a 9 in normal shoes, have 9's in the boots and they are ok with a hiking sock.

    Good boots
I recently bought a pair for my grandson and he found them very comfy.
The Hillmaster is better but you don't see them at reduced price so often.

How do these compare to Salomon boots?

I stick with Salomon because they are so good.I've only had one pair fail when I was in NZ after 1.5 years of heavy use. True to their word Salomon replaced them via an outdoors shop in Auckland under their 2 year global replacement warranty.

    Do Berghaus do anything similar?

Are the materials robust quality? (edited)

on my 2nd pair ...also got a pair of Hillmasters but with the Hillwalkers I can wear ordinary socks but with the Hillmasters I need a pair of thick socks...very lightweight, fit like a glove...with my first pair the leather cracked so they need greasing from time to time...from memory I would say mine were good for c.400 - 500 hours dog walking before the soles and waterproofing went

Made in Cambodia . The ones I got 5 years ago made in China and find them more generous in width , bit like caterpillar and Nike anything made in Vietnam and Cambodia seems narrower to that made in China . Has anyone bought size 11 recently ?
