Great price for the proper Zwilling set!
Harts Of Stur are normally the cheapest place to get these and they're £180 on their site at the moment.

If you want a similar set from their Henckels international range (same brand but budget version of OPs set, made in Germany vs made in China), it's only £80 -
    hartsofstur.com/hen…tml

I have the £80 set and it's amazing! Too lazy to post a deal, feel free to if you like, lol.
If you have the extra cash, get the OP's set as it's better steel. You can't go wrong with either one.

If you do go for one of these sets, don't put pressure on the knive when pulling from the block to hone the edge it, just let the weight of the knives do the honing. (edited)

noticed a few reviews of the handles being quite short.....what is your experience in this respect?

How would these compare to the Ninja Foodi knives?
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
    The.Fat.Cat
These are much better. Zwilling & Henckels are an old well established knife manufacturer, every £ you pay is for the quality of the knives
Ninja charge a premium just for being a trendy name, the quality doesn't come close to these. (edited)

are these x50, cannot any mention in desc?

These aren't X50, they are 440C stainless steel (still has a high carbon content though). Personally I'm not a fan of X30/X50. Yes, the edge lasts longer, but they chip easier and you get the rust spots if you don't take very good care of them (X30/50 can't be put in a dishwasher either).

I went from ProCook X50 knives to the £80 Henckels International version of this set (they are 18/10 stainless steel), and I prefer the Henckels. The ops set would be even better. (edited)

And there's me with my £25 Russel Hobbs knife set from Asda 🤷 not sure I'd use them enough to justify paying that much for a quality product.

I used cheap knives for many years without any problems.
You can tell the difference with high quality knives like these, but they're a bit much for the casual home cook.

My son got very similar set to this as we do cook from scratch pretty much every day (he's my carer and was a chef, I eat well lol), and they are a pleasure to use.

If you ever fancy dipping your toes into the quality knife pond, these would last a lifetime. It's the set we have -

🔥 I’m admittedly a 🔪 snob and these are in my top 3 everyday knives I’ve tried. The block itself is heavy-duty and looks great, plus the ‘self-sharpening’ is good enough for non-professionals. Personally, I prefer Wüsthof knives (Classic or Ikon) in my kitchen but I’ve bought this exact Zwilling set for friends and family and they’ve all loved it.

Highly respected brand. But a friend of mine who is a chef told me the sets at the cheaper end are now made in China. I don't know if its true. (edited)

You can recognise them by the picture, see below. The ones with 1 person label will be China, the other one, will be Germany.

Total garbage. Last few years the quality went down the pan. Rivets are plastic and they fail if you use dishwasher. 48695926-ZWnGP.jpg

You put good knives in a dishwasher?...
they are just caps on top of the steel rivets. (edited)

Zwilling blades are good but you want forged/cast not stamped blades. This is a stamped set so not in my opinion worth it. Less strong, blades can bend and less durable handle. You want forged with bolster if you want them to last.

These are forged ( check zwillings site on the "gourmet" range)...amazon description and images all over the place

I'm saving my £££ for a Robert Welch set. Have seen a few reviews on the Zwilling and this is a great price

You can still order them I think but will have to wait for delivery. Alternatively there are 2 available from Amazon Warehouse (it says used) for around £112.

Should have grabbed them for that price while you could.
I was considering getting them and giving my Henckels set to a family member. Thankfully I held off and saved myself £121, lol.

Is that Brandalley set the same as this ~£120 Amazon product, or the £79 Henckels set mentioned by someone else on this thread available at Harts of Stur?

It's been relisted, but it's actually a different knife set on that Amazon page.
When this was posted it was a forged steel knife set, the set on the page now is stamped steel (Amazon switched the product).
