These things feel like a bit of fad. Sure they're more efficient than using an oven but they (well at least the cheaper ones) can wear out quite quickly, like a year or so. Unlike a cooker which should last ages. You have to wonder if they'll eventually become integrated into new kitchens.

I assume the Ninja ones though are expected to last a long time? (edited)

3 year guarentee if you purchase from Lakeland

Paid £179 for this just a few months ago and my £60 analogue single basket Phillips airfryer, which it replaced, cooked much nicer chips and in less time.

After paying that money I'm now considering a Tefal Oleoclean just for the chips.

Agree. Got it last year for £160 and thought that was excessive. No way this is worth £230

Seconded. Was about to say the exact same thing.
Pretty good but £99 is about all its really worth. Some of the price difference might be justified in the current climate but I suspect like many they are taking advantage & adding a bit extra profit on & blaming Brexit/ War in Ukraine/ Covid/ government / inflation & anything else they can use.

this is a great air fryer. at the end of the day the retail on these are 229 now I don't see the point of saying how cheap they used to be!! it took me ages to get one of these and after owning several cheaper air fryers this out performs them all twice over. so in the current energy crisis these are brill. Well done if you got one cheaper but this is the price now. thanks for sharing op. making the effort

And those that roll over and accept silly price rises from greedy companies are the ones feeding inflation

Unfortunately no matter what way you put it this is not a deal and can only be voted cold.

Yet it won't be voted cold. Despite not liking it myself, it's a fact of life that when there is stock shortages people will pay RRP and it will sell out. It's a service whatever your personal opinion - and my opinion - no way would I pay this.

Family of 4 2 adults 2 kids - is the 300 adequate size wise or is it better to go large

As an owner of the AF300UK (git it for £130 on Prime day 2021 and at the time it was the ONLY dual air fryer on the marjket!) we are fine as our kids have flown so just the 2 of us now. But in your situation I would looking at a bigger one. If you really must have a Ninja (so the AF400UK) just be aware the warranty is just 1 year. Buying from John Lewis extends that to 2 years and buying from Lakeland extends it to 3 years (with a big extra advantage) although they are apparently having supply issues at the moment. (edited)

I'm sure people are just buying these to stick on ebay or marketplace for more money because they sell quickly.

I bought this same model just over a year ago for £170 directly from Ninja on special. Inflation is real looks like everything is a good 15-20% more expensive. I personally perfer the ninja grill type over this.

The blue ones ugly and that wasn’t a normal price, it was a Black Friday price. Which generally would suggest a discount if something needed shifting…

got this 9.5L on ebay refurb for 200 recently. paid this as its hard to get and want this as a workhorse for the holiday season. beats a tower small air fryer hands down. no dark hard to get off grease stains after either. fat rolls off this non stick really well and can cook large batches in one go. really well made (edited)

Not sure I’d call it an old model they have released another version with a meat thermometer built in, which is handy if you want a meat thermometer attached.
