As per title, fuel at Sainsbury's at Ashton-under-Lyne is the cheapest I've seen it in a long time.

I believe Denton is the same too, but I didn't go there so can't confirm.

This is even better than pre-crisis prices. What is going on?
I thought experts were predicting £3 per litre few months ago??

Not sure where you was looking pre-crisis but this certainly is not cheaper but heading in the right direction.

168.9 in Derby yet texaco and all the ones that used to be expensive are 161.9 obviously the supermarkets are robbing us!!

Yep because people keep using them rather than go to the cheapest

My local Sainsburys 141.9, yet the one about 15 miles away is selling petrol for 132.9, shocking how much difference there

Wish I could exchange it for the fuel I was paying £2 per litre for. No masks needed for these highway men (edited)

Visited the Sainsbury’s near the John Lewis in Cheadle last few fill ups.

Think lowest I saw was £1.34 and last week it was £1.37.

One thing I’ve noticed is that you seem to be getting this real big variation in petrol prices between similar retailers eg two supermarkets, that didn’t seem to happen so much ‘before’

Definitely some excessive pricing going on in my opinion if Sainsbury’s can sell at these prices (edited)

apparently diesel is 150.9 at denton

Yet Sainsburys near Brighton is 150.9. How can there be a 20p discrepancy? Such a rip off.

As has been said by others the regional variations even within the same retailer are much greater than previously.

I live in west Edinburgh and we used to enjoy some of the cheapest fuel around but that isn't the case now. The local Sainsburys are nothing like 151.9p for diesel. The cheapest round here for diesel is Tesco at 167.9p. If I was prepared to drive 17 miles each way I could get some at 158.7p from Morrisons in Bathgate. However any saving would have been more than eaten up by the cost of the return journey. The retailers know that, of course.

    All very frustrating.

The massive difference in pump prices locally, never mind from county to county is absolutely shocking these days. It really doesn't make any sense or have any logic to it at all. Cheapest petrol in Leeds is £1.45 yet it's £1.30 in Manc.....go figure?! And how are so many stations around Manc cheaper than Costco now? Costco were the cheapest for ages and it seemed to be a benefit of being a member. Absolutely no consistency to any of it. Gotta really keep on top of it to get the best deal. I'll be heading to Ashton tomorrow to fill up (edited)

    Still 164.7 in Sussex.

It's clear from the massive profits being made by every energy company that these prices are completely unnecessary.

My local Sainsbury's is 150p for petrol and 174p for diesel - in a medium sized Norfolk town on a major A road.

Disgusting profiteering. Tesco just as bad, of course.

It's the cheapest by a few pence from most places nearby (inc Costco). This station generally seems to be the cheapest around this side of Manchester and is often a few pence cheaper then even the nearer Asda, etc

Costco fuel is more expensive than this. Oldham is 134.9p for unleaded. Manchester is 137.9 for unleaded.

I cannot understand why diesel is 20/25 p more , when petrol takes 5 times more refining than diesel which in anybody’s language is crackers we are controlled by greedy bureaucrats, years ago petrol was always dearer of the two, I rest my case.

The wholesale price of diesel is much higher. The RAC has quite a good explanation on their website of the typical makeup of a litre of petrol and diesel.
