Just seen this is free to everyone this weekend (starting Friday at 4pm UK time apparently). No prepurchase required. Ends at 8pm UK time on March 27th.

Note that the download looks quite a chunky one. I can't comment for other platforms but on PC it's 85gb.

Some info from @Fireoxya who has said you can trim the download from 85gb to 41gb if you remove high resolution textures when you start the download: "It's on the battle.net launcher when you start the install, there is a button that shows Modify Install and you can 'untick' the high resolution textures."

How To Early Download Diablo IV Open Beta

PC

Launch the Battle.net client. If Diablo IV is not already in your Favorites bar, you can add it by clicking on the + icon. Alternatively, you can find Diablo IV by accessing the All Games page. You’ll see Diablo IV at the top of the list.
Once you get to the Diablo IV Game Page, click the dropdown menu under Game Version and select the Diablo IV - Beta option. Click the blue button that says Install. The game will install and once it’s available, click Play to Launch.

Xbox

Launch the Xbox Store and search for Diablo IV–Open Beta. Select Download.

PlayStation

Launch the PlayStation Store and search for Diablo IV Open Beta. Select Download.

I bit of clarity as there seems to be a couple of different answers.

The progress from the early access beta (last weekend) should carry over to the open beta (this weekend).

After the open beta this weekend, the progress is wiped and it does not carry over to the main game once it officially goes on sale.

Most likely. Always the case with blizzard. According to their recent blog post, they didn’t expect the influx of players. - Their excuse on every single game release.

For what it's worth, the queues this time are intentional as part of the beta test. Blizzard said want all the available servers at maximum capacity for stress testing.

Queue Times: When we open the gates again this Friday to absolutely everyone, we are expecting a lot of people. There will be lengthy queue times, particularly on Friday when we first launch and during peak regional windows. This past weekend helped us to forecast the capacity we expect this weekend, and we will be using that capacity to intentionally stress our systems in preparation for launch. In summary, while we know it can be frustrating, we need queues to properly stress test our services and we are designing to ensure we have them some of the time.

I did it in about 5 hours roughly last night. Not pushing a pace or using elixirs that I think can speed things up too.

The IGN tips video mentioned using Bonfires - you stand beside them and you get a +XP buff for a decent period. I've not spotted one though.

EDIT - should say I did this with melee Druid , using Sorceress or Rogue would be faster and easier. (edited)

I hate Blizzard for what they did to WoW and become California personified, but Diablo 4 is shaping up to be really fun.

Someone mentioned the brick cases are all related to Gigabytes 3080Ti, my 3070 @ 1440p is still fine after 4 hours play.

On Xbox SX it downloaded fine last night. The only big annoyance was signing up for a BattleNet account. What a PITA that was (and I’m still not sure how I managed it eventaullly: I probably went to sleep having nightmares about ‘dice faces adding up to 14’ fr their dumb ‘captcha’ verification system.

plated the game for about 30 mins afte that rigmaroll. Enjoyable stuff indeed : extremely familiar fell to previous Diablo’s though - seems they’ve stick to the formula almost 100% (which is maybe ni bad thing). Graogilcally didn’t seem like a quantum leap either. Better for sure: but no wow factor.

Well I’m probably going against the grain here Looking at most comments.
Loved the beta, gotten to level 22 and looking forward to the full release.

To put the price into perspective this £60 game will give a few more hours of enjoyment for less than a night out in the town.

Just so everyone is aware, the progress does not transfer over if you buy the full game. I managed to play 4 hours tonight its fun enough.. No real difference to playing diablo 3 though.

Got disconnected a few times but no biggy.. its a beta after all.

But will wait for this to hit game pass can't bring myself to spend £70 on it..

might buy Diablo 2 ressurrected prime evil collection and play that instead

As much as I wish I could get back into Diablo, and D4 does look good compared to D3 which just wasn't on par for the series, I just can't deal with the day 1 Battle Pass. I would happily pay $10 more ($80) and not have that FOMO inducing tripe in the game. (edited)

The battle pass just offers cosmetic upgrades and that seasonal XP boost thing, you’re not really getting any advantages with it that I can see, I couldn’t care less about it. Unfortunately this is the model of gaming we are stuck with now, like numerous DLCs replacing dedicated sequels or expansion packs.

I suppose its hard to judge from the first 20 levels (necro), but I'm finding the game a bit meh. Beta has been stable for me, and the game seems polished enough but I just don't find much gripping about it.

Played it all weekend. Level 25 fire Sorcerer and Level 25 shock Druid.games not without its performance hicks and stutters but only had to queue on the day of launch for 20 minutes. Is it worth 60 quid... Probably not and I dread to think what Blizzard has added in terms of extra premiums you have to pay for.
