If nothing else the last few years Sega have been very self aware when it comes to Sonic.
There is some ring collecting type gameplay scattered throughout, it's not that fun though.
Like a lot of these April Fools type things it's clearly a way to test the market. I would maybe play something like this again if it was more challenging looking for clues and stuff (like a Broken Sword)
