Product Description
From producer Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) and director Neill Blomkamp comes a startlingly original sciencefiction thriller that "soars on the imagination of its creators" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone). With stunning special effects and gritty realism, the film plunges us into a world where the aliens have landed... only to be exiled to a slum on the fringes of Johannesburg. Now, one lone human discovers the mysterious secret of the extraterrestrial weapon technology. Hunted and hounded through the bizarre back alleys of an alien shantytown, he will discover what it means to be the ultimate outsider on your own planet

Thirty years ago, aliens arrive on Earth -- not to conquer or give aid, but -- to find refuge from their dying planet. Separated from humans in a South African area called District 9, the aliens are managed by Multi-National United, which is unconcerned with the aliens' welfare but will do anything to master their advanced technology. When a company field agent (Sharlto Copley) contracts a mysterious virus that begins to alter his DNA, there is only one place he can hide: District 9.

Do you have to watch District 1-8 before watching this? Or is it a prequel?

Blu-ray's so cheap and they are still better quality than some streams 🌊🏞️

Common sense really that streams are compressed, blu-ray hold so much information.
I've got hundreds of blu-rays, crazy when you see them for 50p

Chappie is my favourite of the Trilogy, what a film

Honestly can't pick a favourite. I've got Elysium and Chappie as joint delights in the collection and District 9 I find a little harder to re-watch, but still a classic nonetheless.

What the heck happened to the guy when he was in-flow?

I get the feeling there's an unheard story in which he ticked someone off because to go from peak Hollywood-can-do-no-wrong in a demanding genre like sci-fi to essentially reverting to the 8mm shorts of film-school is pretty drastic.

Might have to go fishing the gossip channels...

I can't remember...this is the film without the awful Ninja and Yolandi in it? Blomkamp's films seem to merge into one.

Chappie is the one they were in and I agree, they sound pretty awful from all the allegations that have surfaced about them over the last few years! (edited)

This is cheaper than renting the film even if you pay for postage.
