Bit of a niche product these days, but found it very useful for family members who have extended stays in hospital. Pair it up with 5 for £1 DVDs from charity shops.

Does it go from 10.5" to 12.5" when you watch certain films? (edited)

This player is still at this price. I'm looking for something like this at the moment. People can take the mickey but I'm a big spoken word fan and before podcasts I used to listen to a lot of DVD commentaries. I have a lot of DVDs that I bought specifically for commentaries. Commentaries are not available audio options on streaming sites so DVDs are literally the only way for me to listen to them.

Players like this also support USB so I can play a lot of stuff on it from USB sticks while I'm using my laptop for gaming.

Is this new old stock from 2008 or something? And the screen can't even show native DVD 576p resolution. (edited)

I'll say use a tablet instead. But a couple of years ago, when my kids were little, this suited our needs better when driving long distances.
