I broke down last year and was in the AA. The recovery took so long the police recovered me instead. They knew I was with the AA before I told them by how long I had been waiting. They said that Green Flag are the best by far as they use local recovery companies, then RAC and then a long way down the list, the AA.

Just purchased, it was £120 and tracked already £45 via TCB so effectively £75 for 12 months or £6.25p/m

I have an older car, the AA & RAC cover cars over 16 years old, just bought cover through TCB, breakdown and national recovery £65 for a year with no excesses, then £30 cash back - basically costing £3 a month.

Can you change vehicle during policy or do you have to take out another policy if i buy a new car?

Usually, but you do need to inform them at switchover.
