Reviews state that there is a annual £30 subscription.

I’m not sure if this can be avoided by purchasing another sim card (Lebara) and using that instead.

Yes, you can use any sim with it, they come with one but no need to activate.

Drop some airtags in your suitcases - helped us find ours when it ended up on the wrong belt/ and once dumped by the oversize/ pushchairs.

Be interesting to know if it supports 2G only on the gsm side like a lot of these devices. Phone companies are stripping the 2G capability from their cell sites so one to watch out for. (edited)

If anyone wants a cheaper, similar alternative buy an Apple Airtag for under 30 quid, wrap it in a bit of fabric to smother the noise it makes and then hide it somewhere. It's not the same as a GPS tracker but it's a heck of a lot easier and cheaper.

If the thief has an iPhone he will know he's getting tracked

What gave you that idea, it can be either hardwired or charged up at home and used via the built-in battery.

If it’s going to get stolen I’d want them to burn it out,I wouldn’t want it back.

    I’m with you.
I’ve got an old Peugeot 207 and I loathe it. I leave it in high crime areas with a £50 note and the keys on the front seat, along with a full tank of petrol, maps, a change of clothes and fake passports.
It’s still there. No self respecting gangster is going to nick it.

No disrespect, but no self-respecting car theif could give a txss if it's got one or not. Police are about 30 years behind on everything -unless it makes them money - and they can't deal with 95 percent of what is happening or has already happened anyway. You could ring them on 101 or the assigned officers number and give them the info on a silver platter: still wouldn't help. And before anyone asks, I work with them everyday! (edited)

Had my tracked car returned to me within 2 hours of it being reported stolen. Perhaps some counties perform better than others.
Also, I get about 10% off of my insurance policy for having one

I use a GiffGaff SIM card for my dog's GPS tracker. Uses about £7 worth of data a year and the credit never expires

Apart from the price, is there any difference between this and the one that was £20.99 including delivery last week?

This is the same item. I purchased it when it was the lower price and it does exactly what I wanted 🏼

Where is the best spot to hide this ?

Also, if someone is saying this is cheap and not worth it to put on a luxury car, then what you guys would suggest ? (edited)

    Ghost II.

It immobilises the car unless you press the correct button combination inside the car first (and it can be more or less whatever you want, like vol up, skip track, etc etc)

Would it not be easy and cheaper to use apple air tag or the Samsung version?
    Cooling_Deals's avatar
    Cooling_Deals
No - both require a compatible device to be in range to return a ping. They're great in built-up areas, but in smaller urban areas or the country, they become next to useless.

With these trackers, all the devices require is a phone signal (to send data back to the owner) and GPS data (for location); both are continually sent, so even if it's taken to a "dark" location, you can see exactly where it has been, and the last location before any signal goes dead - something you can't do with air tags

Air tag also has an anti-stalking app where anyone can tell if an air tag is in the vicinity, create a sound, and then any thief can remove it.

Air tags have their purpose, but not for comprehensive tracking.

Don't they just usually park the car up in a cul de sac a few days and then the theives see if it get's tracked or not?

If you have a premium vehicle, or desirable for a particular reason, many thieves look for a tracker within minutes. However, if you drive a relatively normal vehicle, these would be well worth it.
    Searching4deals1234's avatar

Let’s get things correct first. If you have a in your words a desirable vehicle you wouldn’t have this fitted. You’d have a proper hidden tracker fitted correctly not some toot from a supermarket. That way they don’t generally find the tracker in minutes.

May as well just hide a Samsung or Apple tag somewhere discreet in your car...

Am I right to think that insurers will only offer a discount if the unit is appropriately certified?

And if so, does this unit have that certification?
