Ordered one of these from Amazon a few weeks back and sent it straight back. Very thin and for me the quality of Berghaus has dropped significantly in recent years

They have different types of fleece. The ones with white logo are the thinnest. If you need something thicker:

Of course it is more expensive than this one.

Why is this hot for a recycled plastic bottle? I must admit I do wear fleeces most of the time, ones that I picked up years ago for about a tenner. But am concerned about the micro-plastic thing. These plastic fleeces are pretty utilitarian, dry pretty much from the washing machine. Lightweight. Warmer than cotton for me, just a bummer about the plastic shedding. (edited)

I'm guessing its hot for the price and the perceived brand quality.

You can get micro fleeces all over the place at different prices points. Branded and unbranded (Mostly made of recycled plastic bottles) to me there doesn't seem to be much difference between them, branded or not. They all seem to be a similar thickness, pretty thin.

Anything made of polyester and possibly other man made synthetic fibres. Will shed visible and invisible fibres when washed in a machine. So like jeans, try to leave it as long as possible between washes. I believe I read or saw something about filtering the water from your washing machine to catch micro plastic fibres.

The problem is, almost every item of clothing you look at, these days is made of polyester, acrylic, rayon, nylon, mondial, lycra, viscose, polyamide or other plastics, synthetic or man made fibres. A lot of brands have been bought or have changed their quality. I'm aware as someone else said. The north face is now super trendy. You see it everywhere. Even very young kids wearing north face gilets.

Really the water companies should be filtering all our waste water. To try and remove small visible and invisible micro plastics. To stop it getting into rivers and sea's. But as they don't even bother filtering out excrement, wet wipes, tampons, cotton buds or any other things that shouldn't have be flushed anyway. So I guess that's not going to happen anytime soon.

Our useless government only banned micro plastics in cosmetics and toiletries last year. The EU banned them in 2011, so were only 12 years late to the party.

I mean why would you want to spend your vast profits on pesky expensive chemicals, maintaining or upgrading inferstructure. When you can get away with just dumping it in the sea for free. Slowly contaminating, poisoning, and killing everything (even humans eventually I suspect). When not spending that money means higher profits and bonuses for top brass staff and shareholders. It's disgusting and should be a criminal offence. Imho the water company bosses should be held personally liable or responsible and threatened with jail ir fined. (edited)

Is this stuff owned by Mike Ashley? Quality is nothing like it used to be.

No Berghaus is still the original company according to the wikipedia entry here... en.m.wikipedia.org/wik…aus

Mike Ashley's sports direct was rebranded as Frasers group, sometime after he took over house of Fraiser. To see the ever increasing list of companies and brands he owns here... en.m.wikipedia.org/wik…oup

So, this Berghaus fleece turns into a North Face jacket when you reach a summit according to the pictures.

    That is genius!

Which company is better, Berghaus or Northface? (edited)

I would say northface… both have had a real drop in quality recent years and north face is ‘trendy’ with some of the younguns.. so berghaus for value.

Like the look of this, have some heat, are Berghaus the same quality as they used to be? When I see their stuff in the shops it feels cheap

Just an FYI, it’s a micro fleece.. so will physically be thinner than ol skool stuff. It’s also a lot lighter tho.. think that’s the logic (great do layering)
