AutoDry
Bosch know that ensuring gentle yet perfect drying results can be challenging. AutoDry gently process up to ten kilograms of laundry to your desired level of dryness. Sensors measure the temperature and wetness, thereby protecting your laundry from excessively high temperatures, over-drying and shrinking. Whether you want your laundry to be dry enough to store straight away of simply dry enough to iron – there is now a setting for it.

AntiVibration
The innovative AntiVibration design of the side walls is not only eye catching: the system also provides more stability and reduces vibration. The enhanced insulation also regulates noise levels, making Bosch products very quiet, even during the spin cycle.

Sportswear
The sportswear program is the ideal way to care for modern microfibres and coloured fabrics. Low wash temperatures and a short spin protect the fabrics, while a brief tumbling reduces creasing.

Outdoor+ Drying
Intuitive technology helps protect outdoor clothing when tumble dried.

Heat Pump
Innovative heat pump technology uses heated air to dry your clothes, greatly reducing energy consumption.

Down Drying
A down-filled jacket needs to be dried differently from a pair of denim jeans. With gentle warm air, a wide range of programs and our fabric-protecting drum structure, our tumble dryers always provide the best care for every item of laundry.

Time Program Warm
Choose a different drying program suited to the materials of the clothes.

Sensitive Drying System
With the Sensitive Drying System, laundry is dried by mild, warm air coming from all sides and gently mixed by the curving Soft carriers, instead of lying flat on the fabric-friendly drum structure. The result is soft laundry with no creases.

Electric Damp Detector
Whether it's partly dried or fully dried, Bosch tumble dryers adjusts the drying programs to suit your needs.

Quick 40'
Quick 40' drying is perfect for a small load of light fabrics. High precision temperatures and monitoring of the degree of dryness guarantees fast drying, so you can wear the clothes immediately after the drying is complete.

Key Features

  • Energy efficiency class:A+

In with my usual comment to answer heat pump / cost questions.

    Save me retyping it out

A++ (heat pump) Vs A+++ (heat pump)
A++ (heat pump) Vs A+ (heat pump)
B (condensor) Vs A+ (heat pump)

    hotukdeals.com/com…158

In summary, assuming 3 full loads a week (156 times a year). Scale this up/down with your own usage. Based on 34p/kWH

    A+++ is £19 cheaper than A++.
    A++ is £25 cheaper than A+.
    A+ is £120 cheaper than B.

Most heat pumps are A++, so save £145 Vs a condenser/vented model.

Note - The costs are based on the EU test, which is running the cotton mode, with a full load, water content at 60%, suitable ambient room temperature. Most washing machines will spin out more water, so savings likely to be less in real world use.

So long as you get a good warranty (5 year, as they are susceptible to breakdowns based on others hukd comments), heat pumps in the £400-650 range are worth it.

Heat pumps dont use your ambient temperature in the house to heat the clothes. It does have its own heater (mini compressor like fridge freezer) the reason for needing an ambient temperature is that below say 10C the heat in dryer will leak out via conduction faster than it can make it so it won't dry clothes. However some people have managed to run some heat pumps below this without an issue, but it's likely model dependant. so check the manual for the machine as to its required ambient temperature requirements

Actually they do. The heat pump amplifies the air in the room so if it’s a cold room they take ages to dry your clothes. All heat pumps should only be used in heated rooms.

Just remember that these don't really work well in unheated spaces. The ambient temperatures have to be above 5-10C for it to actually work.

Also since the unit generates some heat, it makes sense to locate it indoors as well, so the heat can be retained in your house.

I think this is hot because it’s BOSCH although the energy rating is A+. The other day people were arguing about LG machine with A++ rating that it was not energy efficient compared to some A+++ machines. So where does this machine stand in terms of energy saving and prices?

Does costco give you a 5 year warranty on this? I think LG ones come with 5 year warranty

Or pay with a credit card for a "6 years warranty", backed by your CC company

Does anyone know what the real depth of this machine is? Just wondering if it will fit behind my kitchen base unit doors?
    Jonwillis's avatar
    Jonwillis
If you want it to fit, you'll probably want an integrated tumble dryer

    Dimensions : 842 x 598 x 613 mm

I need one but I have no space in kitchen to put it.
Only place I can put it is in the living room or a bedroom.
Decorative anomaly aside... Is there any hazards to having it in living space?
    Jonwillis's avatar
    Jonwillis
Not a hazard per say, It's going to make the room more humid as not all the water is condensed. It will make noise when running if that's an issue too.

Is it washing machine or just tumble dryer?

    It’s just a tumble dryer.

The wool drying cycle lasts 6 minutes! Why as pretty useless.

I had a similar Bosch dryer which tangled large items like sheets because it didn’t auto reverse so often pillow cases got wrapped in a sheet or duvet cover and came out damp, generally the washing was creased. An auto reversing AEG replacement didn’t have this problem. The specifications don’t mention auto reverse tumbling.

I have a slightly different Bosch S4 8kg heat pump dryer - model ref 85222, with a window in the door, from Currys eBay clearance not Costco, and rather cheaper than this.

It works pretty well. But notably the drum rotates continually in one direction, but this hasn’t (yet) resulted in balled up sheets inside the duvet cover…
    I haven’t tried the “wool finish” programme…!
Not particularly quiet, but seems gentler than my old machine (judging by the smaller amount of fluff in the double filter.)
Does actually leak a little bit of humidity, but not much heat. Positioned next to a single-glazed window (which can be replaced now it no longer needs to provide a hole for a vent hose), in the coldest weather (only) there was some condensation on that window, nearest the dryer.

Had a flashier Beko for a fortnight from AO. Quieter, did auto-reverse (but not 50/50), surprisingly nice to have the light in the drum, but it had to go back (AO offer no repair/remediation on eBay clearance purchases, just collection & refund) when an intermittent puzzle became a solid fault - I think it was a door closed sensor fault, but the manual didn’t mention error beeps without any indicated problem!
The Bosch just boringly does the job. (edited)

I have this dryer, got a 5 year direct warranty for extra. Been impressed, does dry the clothes quickly. I have noticed sheets do get tangled though for the same reasons listed above

I have a Bosch Serie 6 heat pump tumble drier, had it for 3 or 4 years so presumably a similar spec as this one. I've not been too eagle eyed on the impact on bills, but it is often annoying that it'll be on a 2 hour cycle, and at the end of it sometimes things arent completely dry.

I did get a pack of those wool ball things to drop into the tumble....they do seem to do a good job of softening the material
