It’s fresh milk but filtered so removes things that cause ur to spoil quickly. We always buy Arla Cravendale now. Usually get the 2 2 litres for £4 in Tesco. This Sainsbury’s deal is even better. Milk last for at least 3 weeks! Haven’t had to throw out milk in years. Usually the regular 2 litre milks have a use by if less than a week. This saves u money in the long run as ur not throwing away milk past it’s sell-by

Indeed the filtered does last longer that's why i buy it. My mam often remarks it's a wonder I'm not ill from the out of date food i consume 😁

    Is it UHT

UHT milk is unfortunately not only foul tasting, but also poor nutritionally. The high temperatures used to kill bacteria that survive the pasteurisation process, in spite of the temperature duration being for a few seconds, has the effect of modifying the milk protein conformational structure, such that these proteins become denatured, resulting in aggregation of the proteins, as a result of the modifications to the proteins' building blocks – the amino acids.

For the consumer, denaturisation of milk proteins results in change of taste and considerable reduction of both the vitamin and mineral content.

I read somewhere they add hydrogen peroxide something to make it last longer or something! Anyone heard these weird allegations?

There is categorically ... absolutely ... 100% ... never has been ... never will be ... hydrogen peroxide added to Cravendale ... or any fresh liquid British milk sold in UK for that matter.

Fresh British milk is JUST milk with no 'non-milk' ingredients added!

Cravendale is able to stay fresher for longer purely because the milk is put through ceramic filters & they filter out more of the natural (but not harmful) milk spoiling bacteria.
The opaque milk bottles also help keep it fresher for longer too.

Btw. I am an Arla dairy farmer, & a drop-or-two of the milk from our cows will be in those bottles!

I was never a filtered milk fan until had to make things last longer during COVID when home shopping, and have used it ever since. Mostly get ours from Aldi unless there's an offer elsewhere.

Aldi and Lidl sell 2L of their own brand filtered milk for £1.75, whilst the big 4 supermarkets (Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco) sells theirs for £1.90.

As a matter of interest, it may be noteworthy to mention that 11 years ago in Feb 2015, Aldi's 2L of their own brand filtered milk was priced at £1.09, which equates to a milk inflation of 60.5% over the eight year period till today (= 7.6% mean yearly inflationary rate).

Compared to the annual rise of food inflation of 19.4% in the previous 12 months to March 2023. announced last week by the ONS, milk has done relatively well as compared to other food stuffs, by being less affected to rising costs within the food supply/distribution chain – probably as milk is produced locally within the UK.

I got this from Costco (was less than 2.50 from memory)

I love the shape of the bottle - easy to store in the door panel.as it is narrow (edited)

I can't tell the difference, only tried it a couple times We go through so much milk that lasting longer is not necessary. 4 litres for £2.50 Farmfoods.

That price will pair nicely with the £18 off £60 spend deal.
