Not a bad saw, considering the budget price. The downside is the fence only secures at one end and can be fairly easily flexed by whatever is being cut pressing against it. The other thing is that the motor is a direct switch start and starts up with one hell of a whack. The startup surge even tripped out the 16A service socket breaker in my garage once or twice. Easily cured however, by fitting a cheap eBay soft start module, which made the thing SO much nicer to use.

I bought one of these as I had a job on that needed some long consistent rips. But it was not something I’d be using all the time so I thought it worth a a try as Wickes had it for around £80 (with trade discount) a few months back

My background is mechanic engineer/building etc so putting this kind of thing together was nothing new to me. I found all the metal components are pretty flimsy as is the plastic tub. Setting up the table extension was a nightmare to get anything like level with the table due to the poor fixings made from plastic, one of the plastic retained nuts ripped out. I checked it for accuracy and it was way out, worth also noting the fence is useless. In the end I decided it was a case of getting what you pay for. I dismantled it and returned it.

For me the nail in the coffin was how much of a space taking lump it was when built (if you want it to sit in one place in a workshop that may not be an issue).

I bought the Evolution Rage 5s. Significantly more money (£260) and it’s not perfect but its a world better built, more accurate, better fence, moveable and quieter.

Personally I wouldn’t waste your time and money. (edited)

It's made of plastic which surprised me, its all a bit flexible but if you spend a bit of time setting it up, it works really well. The top is pressed steel the wings are a bit hit and miss, spend the time setting them up level. The fence is ok, pretty solid but I had to move the track to get bigger cuts in. You can see how it's cheap but it works. (edited)
