We have spent ages looking for a decent energy efficient tumble dryer and came across this one from LG, it’s A*** rated and also a Which best buy.

You can currently get it for £783.50 by buying it direct from LG.

So the LG members price is £930, once you joint they’ll also give you 5% off this price so then £884

There is also a £100 cashback offer on this appliance for a limited time, so if you buy before the 26th May 2023, takes the price down to £784.

You’ll need to submit your cashback claim after purchasing.

In terms of energy efficiency, this is one of the top A*** rated tumble dryers, and for us was worth the expense ( 4 kids , a dog and lots of washing!)

If you’re looking for cheap and cheerful machine won’t doesn’t tick you box, but if you can afford to spend more you can make some big savings on your running costs.

There’s also the option to pay by Klarna in 3 interest free instalments.

I'm voting cold because this feels expensive for an A+++ heat pump dryer. I'd be targeting sub-£500 for a good brand, LG included.

Additionally, the performance difference between A+++ and A++ has been demonstrated to be marginal in many cases by the chap who used to post his figures in most heatpump dryer deals. You need to factor in the capital cost difference, plus the annual number of cycles. If you're only tumble drying a few times a week, you may never save the additional purchase price.

Taylor05, if you haven't already had this delivered, I'd go back to the drawing board.

Sure but if its being used everyday it works out to save thousands of
£££ more in its service life. I have one of these i got for more than this price but it does way better than even some other A*** rated dryers.

How energy efficient? Heat pumps for homes can only raise the temperature a few degrees very slowly, insulation does the heavy lifting. Why don't they use these heat pumps to heat homes instead?

Closed loop heat pump for drying clothes they recycle the same energy.

domestic heating are open loop taking energy from outside to inside.

This would save less than 0.3kWh against a decent cheaper A++ machine per load.

    Say 10p a load max

    3 loads a day for 10years to save £1k

That's if you do full loads and never use the rapid function.

Alternatively, doing one full load every day with electricity at 33p / kWh an A+++ dryer will save about £36 a year compared to an A++ model. Electricity will be back down to 20/25p per kWh by the end of the year so the saving will be even less.

I do own an A+++ dryer, but it was less that £500 with a 5yr guarantee. Cheaper A++ dryers can be had for as little as £250 occasionally, but with shorter warranties and I prioritised the warranty over the capital cost when making my decision. The slightly cheaper operating cost was a bonus. (edited)

Ideally l didn’t want to spend as much, but we get though a lot of washing so l know l would regret it later if l got a less energy efficient one .

I purchased the silver one FDV909S for £649 2 weeks ago.
It does have reverse tumble though not every place advertises this, I even asked LG to check this & was told it doesn’t reverse tumble dry
I did post it as a deal.

Do these work in a garage or do they have to be in the house?

No heat pump dryers not really suitable for use in a garage would probably ending up costing you more on electricity to run it. (unless you have a warm garage) . You’d want a condenser or vented dryer.

£784 was the cheapest place l could have found it online, it’s still worth hunting around if you have the time to get if for a similar price.

There was a Samsung 'smart' A+++ heatpump dryer with a 5yr warranty for only £450 on here a month ago, so no great loss. There was also an A++ for £350. Just have a bit of patience and wait for a genuine bargain. No need to pay more than £500 with a 5 year warranty, as I said already.
