    May need a bios upgrade, beware unless you know how to do it yourself. My X570 MPG needed one just to recognise my 5600x..

    Used this exact board for a build last November.
    Solid little mobo, no issues at all since it was built.

    Installed a Ryzen 5500 before updating the BIOS, had no problem booting and just updated the BIOS after.

    Most times they'll boot with unsupported CPU's, but all features may not work correctly so even if they boot make sure you update the BIOS. (edited)

    I have the Intel z490 version of this board and would recommend. Easy to update BIOS with m-flash and solid interface

    Yeap I think to put anyone's minds at rest these days the rom is more or less verified before the flash goes forward - you would be extremely unlucky to brick your rig now

    The last time it happened for me was on a really old gigabyte

    I know this deal has passed.. but I'll still keep an eye onm it.

    Am I right in thinking a 'gaming' motherboard would also be a good bet for a creative e.g. video editing etc motherboard?

    Often it just means better audio/RGB tbh its not a huge factor over say getting a better graphics card/cpu/memory
    helps if you know someone who can advise on your specific case
