Not to demean from the deal, Nikiwax is a pretty good product but we've been using Fabsil on all our gear and has been great. Certainly more bang for buck and seems to performs better in the wet (opinion).

I went down the rabbit hole research on these type of products and some people use alcohol/silicon (ie bathroom stuff) mix to achieve similar results... Haven't committed to trying that yet on expensive gear but definitely worth a try for other gear for waterproofing... (edited)

Ahh, Fabsil. I can vouch for the waterproofing abilities of that. I once bought an aerosol tin of the stuff and used it on our tent. Didn't think it was a windy day until I woke up the following morning.
It became apparent I had successfully waterproofed my eyeballs. (edited)
