Probably the best show I’ve ever watched (and I’m not even a particular fan of cop shows: I prefer SF/fantasy/horror etc. just simply fantastic from episode 1 to the final episode of series 7 (and what a beautifully realised ending). I watche it all again quite recently, and it still hasn’t aged a bit (which is weird given that this series was made before smartphones etc: it just doesn’t seem to date - possibly due to the hip-hop/gangsta vibe that culturally endures). This simply would not get made these days either (which is actually pretty tragic). It’s a bittersweet watch at times.

Watched it on the 4OD app during lockdown and I thought it had aged horribly. It felt full of cliches, the filming techniques looked so dated, Vic seemed so inept in his plans. Was very strange realising how central a character Julian was from the start given that he’s now in jail for life though! Loved it at the time of broadcast, it had a number of ‘oh wow did that really happen’ moments, but it’s not something I’d watch again now

Brilliant show, up there with Sopranos as one of the best ever for me.
