Tried it out recently and don't find it very comfortable I'm 6ft 100kg muscular build, find the mesh seat gives too much play and can feel plastic bottoms, would advise to try it out in store but in general would pay 50 extra for an IKEA Markus

Yep. I agree I have ordered this twice both times the chairs came with cracks in the plastic. In the end I didn't bother.

I'm sure many people got this at £115 when it came back instock last week, after many weeks of not being able to get it.

I got one last year for £95 from Costco, and another last week for £115. I found that the build quality was excellent, and the mesh seat keeps you cool which is going to be great for the summer.
Main perk for me is the arms folding up so that it takes up less space when not in use.
    Highly recommended.

Looking at similar chairs I don’t think this is a huge deal. One company even has it a bit cheaper (although not sure on their delivery costs, but this deal involves you needing a costco near you and also a membership).

Im in the market for an office chair in this price range at the moment and honestly it seems like a minefield, especially when I'm after a white one! The only decent reliable one about seems to be the markus from ikea but it's only available in black! Can anyone recommend?

I’m similar height and weight. The chair is well built and is of good quality compared to other chairs I’ve seat. But I agree, it’s not very comfortable. The edges started digging into my legs and the curve of the seat base forces you to sit with your legs close together.

I got this the first time round and really think its worth the money. Build quality is good, adjustable/folding arms allows you tyo tuck the chair and save space.

Only drawback for me is that iit can feel a little cold at times to sit on, but can only imagine will be great during the hot weather.

I did see an executive leather version in store, but £200.

Anyone seen a better mesh based seat than this?? Other than Herman Miller !!! Looked at this in Costco and seems to be a lot of flex in the mesh seat. (edited)

The problem with a lot of these chairs (office hippo included) is you can't lock the tilt so you have to lock them bolt upright. (edited)

This is just my opinion but I wouldn't touch ikea office chairs with a bargepole. I had 2 of their Flintan chairs with mesh backs. Both of them started creaking in the seat base after 2 years. I'm 80kg and when I took the base apart I found the steel had cracked. I sent pictures but they didn't care. I was tempted by a Markus but put off by ikea. Plus I now want a mesh seat as well as back. Might get a used Herman miller and be done with it.

This one has a few tilt locks on it. We have aerons in the office and half of them have been replaced with that office hippo and it’s a godsend. Great chair for great money, also saves money as you don’t need to call Barclays and remortgage the house for an Aeron

Completely agree, IKEA just not got the lumbar/mesh base nailed yet unfortunately

i bought this chair and sitting on it right now, I like the back shape and the tilt as it holds your posture well, but the bottom part is just not supportive. I can feel the metal bar at the front of the seat, I weigh about 75kg so would have thought I was in the norm range for the chair shape etc.

i will return it for one with a soft base.
