About this deal
This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:
I was looking on HUKD at old Ancestry links and unbelievably this old offer still seems to work (although I couldn’t get the one for £89.00 for 12 months Worldwide membership to work, as it changes that one to full price when your attempt to checkout).
So 12 months for £59.99 instead of current full price of £69.99 for 6 months.
So 12 months for £59.99 instead of current full price of £69.99 for 6 months.

sorted byFamily search isn't actually correct as the people that own tree's other people can come in and change your tree i had done a 5,000 person tree that I painstakingly put in and others have come along and changed it my tree was correct now its not, I should know who my own mother is for crying out loud
Don't forget that you are searching digitised records that someone had to transcribe.
Without going into all the details, there are many 'free' sources but, as mentioned, they are not always reliable.
This Linked worked for me. I had 2 days remaining on my 6 month subscription, I clicked the link and renewed for 12 months at £59.99 - the 2 days pro-rated refund so about £58.56 or something like that
How?
That’s true (for the first 3 years from making it available it’s exclusive to Findmypast). That said, you will still have to fork out on a pay per view basis if you’re a Findmypast member and even their top premium members (who fork out £179.99 for an annual membership) will only get 10% discount on the usual £2.50 per transcript or £3.50 per original census document scan. And the paid for sources are not always gospel either. Irrespective of where your 'facts' come from it is best to check against the original records. Alot of those records can be seen if you go to the records office holding them, but for me (now living in Manchester) the ancestry subscription is cheaper than a return train fare to the London Metropolitan Archives. This is to say nothing of the costs to Somerset (Taunton), Wiltshire (Swindon), Lincolnshire (Lincoln) etc etc.
Ironically I have Worldwide already with 5 weeks left to run and it won’t let me take up the deal. I daren’t cancel early in case I still can’t get it and then I’ve loss my remaining subscription.
Maybe those of you that got this deal can have a whip round for me
You forgot to mention the fact that original notifiers and recorders were not always as literate as we expect them to be today so elderly source documents should be treated with caution anyway.
Or not above telling porkies to the census enumerator - it's surprising how many ladies in my family knocked a few years off their age when asked. :-) But yes many peoples handwriting was grim then.
I was a UK&Ireland annual subscriber with 6 weeks left to run so it was an upgrade for me. Who knows how Ancestry decide to let some and not others use that code. But I'm grateful it did upgrade me for a much better price than Ancestry have offered me directly via email all year.
You are paying for ease of access, and the computational power of Ancestry’s search and hint functions. Plus, you gain access to their membership database. You save travel costs to all of the different storage locations that items are held in.
Ancestry also index huge quantities of items, if you had to go to an archive centre and go through film after film of microfiche, or pages of ancient handwritten documents, it would take so long you wouldn’t get anything like the amount done, as you would with indices. It’s accessibility and time saved that you are paying for.
You can instantly tell the family historians on here, yourself and gerbil said everything that came into my head to comment. Experience talking!
Thanks. Unfortunately my Worldwide ends 28th Dec. Have cancelled but no refunds and tells me I’ll retain access until that date, after which I won’t get charged. It won’t let me do the £89.99 in the meantime.
Glad some have benefited though
Yeah, still same issue. I log into Ancestry, click the link, it takes me to the page with the two discounted memberships, Ive clicked on both (get started) and get to the order screen but when clicking order now I get a pop up saying "There seems to be a problem with your order. Please try again later or contact Member Services."
Actually just tried changing from Paypal to a card and enetered the details and it worked ! Thanks for your help (edited)
Glad you got it sorted
Bonus! Great job. Did you have a current membership running?
Sorry, I’m going to expire this as for some reason the link doesn’t work, even though I copied it from the original deal.
For anyone that’s still interested please click on the link that’s in the post from graann 10 months ago (search on HUKD for Ancestry) (edited)
I had a dna account and it just worked no problem. Thanks
Seems to turn to 12% when you logon, not sure what's going on there. Still, big discount regardless.
So far so good - but when I click through to try to take the offer, I get a pop-up message "There seems to be a problem with your order. Please try again later or contact Member Services".
So I think they're onto the glitch!
Great stuff! Was it worldwide you already had then and was your credit per complete un-used month do you know? I ask as mine is due to run out 28th Dec.
No, I had the Premium membership. Worldwide is the next one up. I didn't see a break down of what was refunded
Just checked my payment and the £89.99 world sub was reduced to £83.09 to allow for my unused time of 42 days for a discounted UK & Eire sub. So it reduce the price by the amount for the number of days left using the original subs cost.
