I recently had a log burner installed and had been using £4 blaze smokeless bags from B&Ms / Home Bargains.

This coal generates loads of heat and doesnt smoke much at all.

Thought this was a bargain at £5.33 a bag. £16 for 30kg. Click and collect

Homefire offer 25kg bags at £14.50, Amazon £19.94 for 20kg

Remember if you burn coal in a log burner you can damage it.
It needs to be a multi fuel or one designed for coal.

This burns way hotter than wood. Had my multi fuel burner for about 6-7 years now and use this stuff regularly over winter. If I load mine up with wood, even hardwood, and set the vents almost closed the burner will pretty much die out overnight. With this coal on the same setup (10-15 pieces, the coals will still be glowing in the morning and burner still very warm, and you can then empty ash if you want and continue a fresh burn. Way more burn time than wood. I normally burn wood for the first hour to get a hot base of cinder’s then add the coal. Doesn’t provide the great flame look that wood does, but if heat is what you want then this stuff is great.

I find if you lob about 12 pieces on it will last 3-4 hours. It depends if you want to put more coal on it or just let it die out, you need to catch it sooner if you want to put more coal on or it won't really have the heat to keep going. Coal is good because you don't have to tend to it like wood, you just lob it on and forget about it. Be aware you usually have to get the fire started with wood first then put coal on, also it doesn't burn as hot as wood. It's a more mellow heat.

I get two hot fires that last from 3pm to 9pm each so about 12 to 14 hours heat from a Aldi 10kg 3.99 bag got fed up with buying damp wood that won't burn properly only use wood for short fires now in our multifuel 5kw.

Don't ever put normal house coal in a multi fuel stove, use only fuels designed to be burnt in a stove.

As for this stuff it is expensive for what your getting. 30kg for £16 when I can buy pure Welsh Anthracite 25kg bags for £8.

This is basically Anthracite based with olive stones to give it the Eco status. Anthracite on its own is not easy to light but once you know how to and how to control the heat its the best value in a multi fuel stove, I do like this ECoal but at £16 for 30kg hard to justify over standard Anthracite.

I have got the bassington multi fuel stove but yeah really good advice on what to burn. This coal is much better in my opinion and burns hotter than the cheaper bargain option.

I get mine locally from a coal merchant, the problem with ordering it online is that you usually need to order large quantities on a pallet. If you look up a coal merchant locally you normally can get it delivered or pick up from their yard. I just checked the last dozen bags I bought in October cost £8.20 each. Welsh steam coal is also a good burner in a stove, gives a bit more flame than Anthracite but does not last as long or give off as much heat, but its cheaper around £7 a bag. That stuff is mined in an open cast in Merthyr South Wales.

I use Taybrite on our multifuel stove. Circa £10 to £11 for a 25kg bag. Burns nice and hot and stays in well. Kind on the chimney as well.
