HOT.....why anyone carries money loose in pockets is beyond me. Why anyone carries money around after Covid era is another question.

Nothing wrong with spreading your money around your pockets, If everything is in your wallet, one dip and you've lost the lot.

I worked in a research centre about RFID including NFC and I’m not sure what the use of these RFID blocking wallet products is. They seem to essentially be produced to prey on paranoia. There isn’t any need to block RFID on cards because the NFC form of RFID physically cannot be activated or read any further than 4CM away - this is a hard limitation imposed by the technology as cards do not have a power source and can only receive power from a scanning device which works a maximum distance of 4CM away. The distance cannot be extended like it can be to some degree with regular RFID (due to regular RFID being able to contain it’s own power source).

Car keys are different and tend to use regular RFID which can be read from a longer distance away.

JustExtreme, I agree 100%. I have spent 20+yers in banking and carrd payments and sit on a UK Finance Technology subcommittee. This threat is non existant on cards for all the reasons you cite. Fundamentally the chip has no powersource and the POS terminal in a shop needs mains power to activate. There are no pocket devices to do this. At one time people used to watch YouTube videos on how to sever the arial in the card with a hole punch. Its manufactiured fear by poeple selling a solution to a non problem. I do not bother with an RFID wallet, but yes keep my car keys in a Farraday box.
