Great deal. Thanks op. Been waiting for a deal in these to use my excess solar power in the cooler months for heating over gas!

    Replying to

It's a couple of 400w panels on the garage roof and 6 360w panels down the side of the house with 5x 100ah 24v life p04 batteries and a 6kw inverter. The whole thing set off as a bit of a hobby but grew arms and legs. I'd do things way different if I did it all again. Loads of decent all in one systems now. Mines like frankensteins monster. The whole thing cost just over £7000. It's been worth it though. These last few months we've only been pulling between 30 & 50kwh from the grid. (edited)

This is how I used mine through the winter... Took the edge off a chilly office/bedroom but not really heated the room as such

    Hi All,

I need to buy a heater for my garden outbuilding - my 2.5kw oil filled one git damaged & will now not work. I see that these days there are two types that loom similar - oil filled ones & electric ones both of which you just plug into a socket.

I would like to ask then, which of the two is more efficient & cheaper to run on a regular basis - an oil filled one powered by electric or an electric one powered by electric? I am a clueless on these things so would appreciate the kind help!

    Many Thanks!

All may not be lost . I had an issue with my Delonghi ,it just stopped heating up . I googled it and found there was a secret reset button behind a the controller side . The youtube video walked you through the easy process and I pressed the tiny button and it was good as new again .

I agree with @STEPH222, @gary333 & @Robdataff above: too many terrible reviews - esp' that burned one with the photo', and all the reports of poor output/low heat. Cheap, ineffective + more importantly potentially deadly (edited)

How swiftly we transitioned from ac units to heaters

With the truly extortionate prices of gas (and electricity) expected this winter, I expect these will sell like hotcakes soon as people choose to only heat specific rooms rather than their whole house.

    Mark my words. (edited)

I think we’ll probably see an uptake of more smart systems, our evohome heats individual rooms etc.

It will still be cheaper to use gas than electric for heating unless you have a heat pump.

Worth a punt for 14 quid.

I do hope people buying this realise it’ll never heat up a room to any decent temps if it’s larger than a downstairs toilet.

625w is nothing, and that’s not the output of this radiator either, it’s the power consumption of the oil heating element. Sustained output from this will be about half that, so at best c.350w.

Radiators this small have a few niche uses (like as mentioned sticking under desk to keep your legs warms) but in the main aren’t going to help keep anything bigger than a tiny box room slightly warm.

Utter nonsense. If it consumes 650 W then all that energy will ultimately end up as heat. The laws of thermodynamics indicate so. The only way you could "lose" 275 W is if the heat was somehow being lost outside the system (i.e. the room), for example if hot pipes ran outside the room, which for this design, they don't. Read the reviews for this. Absolutely horrible. Save your money for something with a bit of oomph. You can always turn a bigger one down. This one's a toy to heat a kennel.

Looked at few random profiles of top reviews. One has as many 10 reviews others 2-3 on same date. That's just suspicious and would make me pay attention to the lower starred reviews before considering this.

I just worked out this is going to be cheaper than having my gas heating on, until my electric deal expires in Feb. Thanks OP. Currently pay 15p for electric until Feb. Hoping my gas may be capped at 11p til next May but the boiler uses about 24kw (edited)
    gary333's avatar
A kilowatt of heat is a kilowatt of heat. It takes the same amount whether gas or electric to heat a room. Thus in your case for a given temperature gas is cheaper. My boiler is 38kw boiler, but it doesn’t ever use 38kw apart from heating water. In fact mine is capped at 11kw (4 bed detached) and will modulate between between 7-11kw depending how cold. Once temperature is reached it turns off. With this electric heater you’ll be lucky to warm a porch you mind a living space.
