Free money to spend on the supermarket purchase. The yearly deal is back where Asda will top up additional upto £15 on each card with the balance of £280+.

How does it work?
Our Christmas Savings Card is really simple to use. It’s like a Christmas savings account or saving club that pays out a cash bonus come November, but with the added flexibility of being usable throughout the year. Setting money aside for Christmas can be tough - we want to make the process as easy as possible whilst rewarding customers for thinking ahead.

To get started, order a card online or grab one in store.

Next, top up your card whenever you see fit; be it every few weeks, every month, or whenever fits your schedule. You can even set up automatic recurring payments, then you don’t have to worry about remembering to save. Learn more about topping up below.

Do this throughout the year and the money will be there whenever you need it (it’s not just for Christmas). If you have any money on your card come November, we’ll give you a bonus! Save as little as £30 to qualify. Find out more below.

You can spend the balance on your savings card in store or online.

What rewards are there?
All of our rewards are cash bonuses, which are awarded each year in November.

For this year, the bonus cut-off date is 5pm on 13/11/2022 - make sure you’ve got enough on your card by then to qualify! You will receive your bonus by 9am on 14/11/2022.

The more you save, the better the bonus. Here’s a full breakdown:

Savings on card Bonus reward
£30 - £79 £1
£80 - £129 £3
£130 - £179 £6
£180 - £229 £9
£230 - £279 £12
£280+ £15

It's similar to Iceland bonus card and you can topup £20.00 each time for £1.00 bonus so £300.00 will get you £15.00. Iceland also have a app you can keep track of all your savings

Just over 5% as an incentive to tie up £280 on the card.
Not great but it's still free money.

It's a good deal if you shop at Asda every week. But my main question is when you shop in store and use your savings card the balance will go down so you need to top up or can't use your savings until 14th November

Hello, do you need the balance to be 280+ to get bonus of £15? My balance is less than 10, but I had topped up and used about 300 over a period of time.

Great deal. I've filled two up this afternoon.

Does anybody know if these work for branded gift card purchases? The terms forbid it but I know evouchers work just fine...

So you just buy multiple cards? Someone posted last year that they bought 5 cards worth. Potential £75 saving but a significant investment!

So I have to order the Asda savings card online then top up £280.00 (which I can use Instore or online when shopping at Asda) on 14/11/22 I will get £15.00 as bonus (is there a expiry date on bonus & original balance) so whenever I go Asda I use my savings card. Before 13th November every year I need to make sure my balance is £280.00+. I'm i right thanks

Expires after two years, might be different date in November next year. Seems to have been going for a few years (edited)

Thanks for the reminder. I buy a couple early November every year, put £280 on each and earn £30 within a few days.

How come this gets hot when it’s effectively 5%. But then Monese gift cards is 10% is cold/freezing
    Roygroyg's avatar
It is a bit contradictory but all down to expectations and disappointment on the Monese one. Used to jump on this savings idea each year but makes no sense as have chunk of Asda gift cards at better rates now.

Has anyone else had a problem topping up online? Would only allow me to top up £100 per transaction - accepted the first top up but when trying to top up again it won't go through. Initially thought it was a problem with my card, but have tried a different one and the payment won't go through.

I presume these can be topped up in store with cash ?
    19DembaBa19's avatar
Can you get the savings card Instore as well
  11. 19DembaBa19's avatar
If I have a asda gift card can I use that gift card to top up my savings card. Can you spend the savings card and use gift card together to do your shopping Instore, does both work together
    WillPS's avatar
Officially no, you cannot use giftcards to pay for giftcards. If you do this at a self checkout you might get away with it however.
  12. Burgmeister's avatar
Can you use the savings card to pay for shopping online or is it in store only?
    Thanks
    ellie27's avatar
    Yes
  13. redvers's avatar
Doing it online - it says you have make sure to add the savings card to your account. How do you do that?
  14. Shard's avatar
It's worth registering it online with Asda, then if you lose it they can cancel the old card and give you a new one
    19DembaBa19's avatar
    How do you do that

Can this be used to buy fuel?
    RobbieP9's avatar
I’ve also got this question. Can’t find it on the website!
  16. ITMonkey's avatar
Can you transfer a gift card balance onto the savings card?
  17. Bargainer22's avatar
Can you use this with the blue light discount when you then shop with the savings card?
    juicylucy123's avatar
    Yes

Asda prices are generally more expensive cat food tins are £4.50 for 6.£3.49 in Lidl for the same 6 tins in gravy.
    Shard's avatar
But not compared to Tesco, Sainsburys or Morrisons
  19. neversay's avatar
Just a heads up that there are limits on how much you can top-up. It's as follows:

£1000 total spend limit per 7 days
20 cards (mixed batch) total per order
5 of the same asda card limit per order
only 1 third-party e-card is allowed per order
only 5 third-party physical are allowed per order

Watch that first one. I bought 5 cards then had to wait a week to top-up to the £280 mark.
    crumpetman's avatar
I presume those restrictions are for online only? If you go instore and activate/top up cards in separate transactions then it should not be possible for ASDA to automatically restrict you.

Has anyone tried topping up at a Self Checkout and then paying with a regular Asda gift card (as a way of transferring from one to another) ??
    WillPS's avatar
Seemed to work today for me. I also tried buying an Amazon gift card with a Saving Card and that seemed to work just fine too (topped back up to £280 afterwards of course!).

Good deal if you don't have any work gateway. I have had 4-6% at Asda regularly and topped up £1000 last time it was 6%. Now banks are paying 2.5-3% I'm more inclined to hold cash and top up when I'm out again .

    Voted hot mind

I'll never shop at Asda again. During the pandemic staff was promised a bonus, the new owners removed the bonus. I don't know how they can treat minimum wage people so badly. when we all thought cv19 was a killer, it was supermarket and NHS staff on the front lines whilst we sat at home. I now drive 14 miles just to go to Tesco when I live 4 streets away from the Asda. (rant over, off my soapbox now)
    WillPS's avatar
Asda staff are paid £10.10/hour. The "National Living Wage" is £9.50/hour.

I don't think either is right or enough, incidentally, but it's not true to say they are a minimum wage employer.
  24. RobbieP9's avatar
Has anyone used these to purchase fuel? I might have missed it in the T&Cs (apologies if I have) but I can’t see anything about it?
    deanwatson842's avatar
No, you can at Morrisons, Sainsburys may accept theirs but technically no, Tesco will accept some variants of gift card at petrol station (including Christmas saver top up)
  25. ellie27's avatar
Does anyone know if I can buy a gift card from topcashbacks topgiftcard site and the £15 bonus would be added on to that?
    crumpetman's avatar
No, that doesn't work. It has to be the branded "Christmas savings" card purchased in ASDA retail store or online at asdagiftcards.com/car…ard
