Thought I'd share this, as a few were asking when I posted the BA flights for £308, if there were any good hotel deals.
Seems decent all things considered.

Cheapest I could find was the Yotel Times Square for £484, but there are some sort of fees which have to be paid.

Better option I think would be this one:

Hope it helps someone.

As I understand it, eating out etc in NYC is very expensive these days - don't forget you have to budget for the 20% tip on top of almost everything and there's the various taxes too.

I can agree. We just got back and boy was in expensive. Like 3 times more than last time we went 3 years ago. Your looking at 50 dollar avg for a meal for 2 people and this is like Pizza and snacks. Took us by surprise

DoubleTree rooms at Times Square are absolutely tiny. Once your suitcases are in, there's literally (and I mean literally) no way of walking around the room without climbing over the bed. I suppose it's the sort of hotel where you only really care about the room for sleeping in, so not the end of the world. (edited)

Just spent couple of nights at Carlton Arms Hotel midtown east of Manhattan. Perfect location. Quirky and friendly staff and the bedrooms are huge with 2 double beds and en-suite. Cost roughly £240 for 2 nights there as everywhere else was roughly £400. Surprised when the person in reception was a Brummie and the owner.

NYC is not only a LOT colder than the UK, but it is crawling with homeless and expensive, especially now that the dollar is killing all other currencies

Went in November and actually thought there were less homeless than when I last went in 2019 . Yes it’s very expensive but it’s an amazing place to visit

Love NYC. Love Winter city breaks. Love the price. These '3 night' deals make me laugh though. Never mind the jet lag, you absolutely need more than two full days here. If you're going to spend ~£1k , spend a bit more and go for a week. Thank me later

Couldn’t disagree more! Get the early flight out of LHR and you can be in New York for 11:35 and in Manhattan for lunch. Combined with the 23:15 on the way home you’d have to leave manhattan for Terminal 8 after 20:00! You don’t need more than 3.5-4 full days in New York to have a good time! Said having been 30 times or more.

From what I'm aware BA don't do direct from Bham. Maybe there might be another airline. I'll have a look and get back to you on it

Change your app store to America before going and your food will be well cheap. All this moaning above about food expense, yeah never had that problem myself.

I totally agree. Guys stop moaning. UK is not cheap either . You have to compare New York with London in terms of cost of life. Except that New York a monster city and has a lot of what London doesn't have. US stays a favorite top destinations for the Brits.

Here's a tip for anyone going to the US for the first time. Don't leave any cash on view in your hotel room. I had about $15 in coins and dollar bills along with a bunch of other stuff on a side table, having emptied my pockets to pop out for lunch, came back and was confused with a note left saying 'thanks for the tip'!

Made this mistake too and was annoyed at the time, felt better when I realised they get paid a pittance.

This is a shocking deal, been to New York twice both times in January first time in 2017, second time was this year. Paid £700 on Expedia and £600 PP with Virgin respectively for 7 nights each time.

Most would probably think 7 nights in New York is too much and would rather pay £200 less as a result

It looks like if you increase the number of nights to 4, you get the 4th night for no extra cost

Heat for the price, for anyone wanting to go and feel what real cold weather feels like . Can't comment on every Yotel, but the two I've stayed in have not been very good and wasn't impressed, so for the price I'd recommend the Hilton, but others experience may differ from mine. (edited)

The small print for many of these hotels is that there is a 35 to 45 dollar "amenity fee" per room per night, payable locally at the hotel.

Yes this is now at most hotels in NYC. We was not told about this by Hayes or by the hotel upon checking in but was asked for it upon checking out so be careful.

Good price but after staying at the double tree at the end of march I wouldn't recommend it. Dirty hotel and certainly not up to a Hilton standard.
