These were reduced from £22 to £12 previously, now down to £5 while stock lasts. Seems only black available for delivery but both white and black available for collection depending on stock at each store.

If you don't already have Tradfri gateway or DIRIGERA Hub, you may need to get one to utilise this Sound Remote but can also be used with Home Assistant via ZHA, Deconz etc.

Product details

  • Play/pause, next/previous and volume control with the touch of a button.
  • Adjust and control one speaker or a group of speakers from anywhere in your home.
  • By connecting this product to DIRIGERA hub, you get even more out of it and can also control it, together with other smart products, in the IKEA Home smart app.

If you want to save on shipping use click and collect from 3rd party partner, only £2 instead of £4 home delivery

Didn’t know this and good to know for the next time, so thanks

FYI pack of spare CR2032 batteries from IKEA is very cheap, £1.50 IIRC.

Do you absolutely need a hub or anything else or can this just work with existing Sonos equipment?
    maxfury's avatar
They wont work standalone with Sonos equipment. You need a hub or home asssistant setup.

Useful video on how to use with Sonos - don’t forget you need a Tradfri hub

Can't find a simple answer online, but is there a way of connecting these to Sonos speakers without the need for any additional hardware? I have plenty of IKEA plugs and bulbs on my Hue Bridge but I don't want another hub.

No, as far as I know you need to either use one of the Ikea gateways or go through a Home Assistant setup, they can't talk directly to Sonos speakers and whilst they can be connected to a Hue bridge for controlling lights, there is no way to control Sonos speakers via a Hue bridge. (edited)

What do they do in home assistant? I'm only just getting started with HA and essentially have lots of Hue, lots of Google nest speakers and a Sonos One. Can these control the nest speakers volume etc?

Yes, in theory should be able to get these controlling Google Nest speakers via Home Assistant. Just be aware that you will need some form of Zigbee interface (there are several options) to get these talking to Home Assistant if you don't already have that side of things up and running. I personally use DECONZ with a Conbee II stick and will be setting them up via that when mine arrive.

Don’t these work with smart things ?

They're unfortunately not part of the native Ikea integration (As far as I can see) and having looked I can't see an edge driver available which integrates this (yet... Some people are reportedly working on it)

Thoughts on suitability for use in the shower? I have Sonos in the en-suite and would be nice to be able to control it whilst showering.

Yes, but not directly, you'll need a hub of some sort, see other posts.

Just seen there's a Gen2 SYMFONISK Sound remote at Ikea but currently unavailable. Can't see any comparisons/reviews of the two, perhap something to do with Matter/new Dirigera hub? I prefer to look (and price) of the v1 controller tbh

Bloody hell, bought loads of these the other day since they were supposedly reduced from 24 to 12 ¬_¬

Edit: Gonna return the more expensive ones next time I go to Ikea, best to make use of that 365 day return policy (edited)

Yeah I meant to buy some when they were £12 but forgot, glad I did now!

Thank you OP. Just bought a couple, I was tempted at £12 but I couldn't see what I needed them for within Home Assistant... at £5 it seems rude not to order at least a couple of them to play around with

Thanks. Had to go with £4 delivery, but still a great deal, it seems!
  18. jouster's avatar
ill probably never need them but at £5 each ill happily buy 4 (especially as I already have a zigbee hub that work well with HASS , ....getting them delivered for £4 saves me a trip and even used my work discount to get a further £5 off as well...£22.80 all in ...thanks OP (edited)

What’s a work discount? Is it vouchers?

can these be used for sonos ones?
    jouster's avatar

Have some Ikea bulbs that work with my Tuya Smartlife zigbee hub. Just wonder if this would be of any use?
    jouster's avatar
yes a zigbee hub is all youd need....im not sure if all devices work with all hubs but i think you'll be pretty good...sure someone will be along to confirm at some point

Not totally shocked to see lots of these listed on eBay now for £29.

My 4 got delivered today. Quite odd that the black remotes come with white metal plates.
