Kindle Paperwhite Kids is designed just for reading, which means no distractions from apps, videos or games.

The bundle includes 1 year of Amazon Kids+ (auto-renews after 1 year), a child-friendly cover and a 2-year worry-free guarantee.

A library full of child-friendly content

Every Kindle Paperwhite Kids comes with 1 year of Amazon Kids+, an auto-renewing subscription with access to over a thousand books. From timeless classics such as The Magician's Nephew, to popular series such as The Treehouse Series, and Harry Potter.

Daytime. Bedtime. Anytime.

From the timeless classics you remember from your own childhood to the future classics they’ll remember from theirs, Kindle Paperwhite Kids includes access to over a thousand books with Amazon Kids+.

If an urge to read strikes after lights out, Kindle Paperwhite Kids has an adjustable warm light to shift the shade of the screen from white light to a warm amber.

Coming Soon: you can also set a bedtime for each child profile on the Parent Dashboard, to help avoid bedtime disagreements.

Waterproof and worry free

Kindle Paperwhite Kids is waterproof (IPX8 rated) and has been lab tested to protect against accidental immersion in up to two metres of fresh water for up to 60 minutes, and 0.25 metres for 3 minutes in seawater. Learn more about waterproof features.

With the 2-year worry-free guarantee, if it breaks, return it and we’ll replace it for free. Find out more.

We’ve also included a cover that's made to last, with magnets that close the cover securely and a durable exterior that protects it against scratches. Just like a book, it opens and closes to wake the Kindle Paperwhite Kids or put it to sleep, and is available in a range of child-friendly designs.

Child tested, parent approved

Set educational goals and manage content with easy-to-use parental controls. With Parent Dashboard, you can adjust age filters, add books to your child's library, view reading progress and more.

Since Kindle Paperwhite Kids is designed for reading, children don’t have access to the internet or social media within Amazon Kids. Kindle Paperwhite Kids even offers OpenDyslexic, a font preferred by some readers with dyslexia.

Take the story with you

With Audible, Kindle Paperwhite Kids lets your child switch seamlessly between reading and listening via Bluetooth-enabled speakers or headphones. With one year of Amazon Kids+ included, children have access to hundreds of Audible books, including The Magician's Nephew and The Boy in the Dress.

Note: Kindle devices don’t support Immersion Reading, which lets you listen and read along as the text highlights. Learn more about Immersion Reading.

Excellent device. The paperwhite has the flush (larger) screen, colour temperature adjustment, and the waterproof rating that the basic kindle doesn't. So it's just a generally nicer device than the basic one, which if you use it a lot will be worth the extra. But the basic one still does everything a kindle needs to (so long as you don't take it swimming!) so it comes down to budget.

In both cases the kids edition is the best deal.
You get a free case, no adds and a 2yr (accident damage included) warranty, all of which is excluded from the non-kids editions. The kids+ subscription is something that is purely optional for you to use (probably only if you're giving it to a kid)

Are there any difference between this and the normal paper white version? It’s cheaper than the normal version and it doesn’t have ads? Wanting to buy one for an adult as a present so just wondering if there’s any difference.

There is no hardware difference. The only difference is that when you first set it up you will be guided through setting up a kids account and then you can just deconfigure it and then the Kindle will just be the same as non-kids without ads and a case at a bargain price.

    This video explains it
Can adults use the Kids Kindle Paperwhite? (edited)

I know it's waterproof, but has anybody noticed any other benefits over the basic one?

I want to get this as a Christmas present, does the kids subscription start immediately or can you activate it once it's been gifted? Don't want to waste four months!

I'm not entirely sure, however as my wife's Kids edition was bought on her Amazon account but registered on my account the Kids subscription went onto my account and I am pretty sure it started on the day I logged into the Kindle. But it might be worth checking with Amazon via chat (edited)

When are we going to see a USB-c oasis?

God, yes. Recently decided I'd like to replace my old gen 4 (first one after they got rid of the keyboard) but I'm not paying Oasis prices for something with micro USB. Tried the latest paperwhite recently and, for my money, it's lagging miles behind the gen 4 in economics and UX still; bulkier, heavier and with a touchscreen it takes several taps to lock every single time you open the device.

Purchased this yesterday should have posted. Traded in my knackered 10 year old Kindle Keyboard to get it for £75. Great deal. My wife already has this one it's an excellent device.

I bought this the last time it was on offer.

Easy to setup and get rid of the kids stuff.

Great screen and really clear reading, but they need to sort out the software. It’s woefully slow when you’re not in a book. Hangs frequently and often requires a hard reset to make it useable again. Amazon reviews are full of users with the same issues … I’m amazed Amazon haven’t got on top of this by now…

Maybe yours is faulty in some way - wifi antenna problem or something like that??
I'd probably send it back - as that's not a normal experience (solong as theres a decent wifi connection)

@PD2K79 The "Bundle Offer - save £5" banner in the HUKD deal information above comes out at £125. The £99 price doesn't include the screen protector or charger bundle. Not surprised, just confused. The banner should be deleted from the deal information, or the £125 price included.

    Eh?
It’s £99 for the Kindle, or the Bundle, which is discounted by £5.

It doesn’t imply that there’s £5 off the device alone

is the kids subscription something you have to cancel because it recurs?
    Baz8755's avatar
    Baz8755 Author
Yes you set up and then cancel it straight away, you still have use of it for a year if you want it and then it won't renew

Apologies if this has already been asked - does anybody know if the kids+ subscription can saved for later? (We already have a year's subscription running)

I spent an hour trying to find this out today- apparently if you have a kids + subscription running, activating this device will simply extend it a year from the activation date rather than adding a year. Suggested solution from Amazon was to buy it next year!?!

What is the actual difference between the paperwhite kindle deal that I missed on Prime day, and this kids version? (it would be for me, not a kid).
