I had tickets for QI in 2011. It was a good experience but they oversupply tickets to guarantee a full studio, so if you’re travelling from far you’ll want to get there nice and early to ensure you’re near the front of the queue otherwise it could be a wasted journey if you’re turned away. First come first served. (edited)

You have to be there early. Being there only 20mins before with a ticket doesn't guarantee entry as learned the hard way (edited)

attempted to go last night, arrived half an hour early and was very close to getting in - would therefore suggest anyone arrives earlier than I did!

Did you have to queue outside?
And did they offer you priority tickets since you missed out?

Can't understand travelling to be in the audience at a BBC programme that will look and sound much better if you watch it on TV. See also Glastonbury Festival.

Depends on the show, for some things it can record for a few hours to make the half hour of TV and there can be funny/entertaining sections that don't make it to the final show.
I saw Grahem Norton interview Robin Williams, that went on for a good three hours or so to get the 40 minute show and was very entertaining seeing Robin goofing around.

This guy. QI is genuinely one of my favourite TV shows.
But then again, I don't know why people would watch Love Island. Each to their own

Pretty much every TV show with an audience has always been free to attend, so I wouldn't consider this a deal as such. Sorry to be THAT guy... But hey, someone has to be.

You got lucky. It's in the FAQ on the website and says anything from 2-3 hours.

I went to a recording about 10 years ago and a New Zealand "comedian" called Paul Lane (or something Lane) was in the panel (he was not very good, at all, and was hogging the show...in my opinion obvs)

It nearly put me off the show which i had always loved, and I think we were sat there for about 2.5 hours minimum....and it felt longer... Felt a bit like torture by the end

Maybe I was unlucky with the panel, but it felt really really flat to me as an experience.

Yes I think about 40-50 people were told they weren't getting in for the show, after queuing up for at least 30 minutes, I was surprised how okay they were about that, I think there's a lot of "regular" show goers.

But personally been there done that, wouldn't be bothered to do so again.

Still, it's definitely worth voting hot, maybe I was particularly unlucky that day (edited)

Over 2 hours with Toksvig and Davies sounds like torture in itself.
If the panel is rubbish it means they just keep recording more to meet a half decent show for edit time,, so the worse it is the longer you have to endure it!
Name one funny Alan Davies joke
And now consider this man has been a comedian for decades.

The location is there on the page if you bother looking! Are you expecting someone else to look at it, copy the information and then post it in this comment thread just to save you half a second of effort??

I've been to see QI being recorded before - well worth the experience and they record far, far more than you see (even on QI XL!)
One thing to bear in mind, it's quite likely you won't get in unless you arrive really early. We were turned away the first time, but they gave us 'queue jump' tickets for another showing that guaranteed entry. So, you may need to try twice, but you're sure to see it once - if you know what I mean :-D

Lack of licence fee payers is going to kill Auntie, unless the Government prop them up (but will still cost taxpayer either way).

We dumped the TV licence years ago as nothing to watch and waste of money.

Tried to go to see apprentice you're fired, in the tiny print they say they can turn you away. This is terrible and there were many others why travelled a long way or took time off work. They venue played dumb. Really really disrespectful approach to getting audience members
